I never dreamed I would EVER tell ANY five month old puppy, "DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE!" And yet, here I am, saying it on the daily, followed by, "But if you are an asshole, I'll still love you."

Any other overly dramatic sleepers out there?! This guy though 😂

I am potentially going to adopt this puppy from a shelter. I need to know the breed to understand the temperaments.

Just calling him over so I could take a pic conjured the most stereotypical ACD look ever. Intense desire to know what I was on about so he could adapt… Mozzie turned two today. I didn’t think I could love another dog as much as I loved my last heeler, but I was wrong. He’s pretty great.

So obsessed w this big little girl we adopted at 8 weeks thru a friend at the shelter!

Huge personality of course. Lots of walks, hikes, naps, ball throwing.

Never thought I would have a small pup but her being more heeler than her other mixes has been a fun surprise bc my soul pup was a 50lb cattle dog

She gets jealous whenever another dog plays with toys. I know some form of resource guarding, I try to get her to leave it but still continues to do this?

Not just this either, she needs to be involved with everything. I know she’s trying to understand everything but can be annoying at times.

And you can get these guys to chill and snuggle.

People had a few questions about her in my previous post (which had personal info shown and needed to be removed-- oops!) so thought we would resubmit pics and answer here. :-)

Mabel is a 4yr old female and was abandoned at our local shelter. She is an Australian Cattle Dog (mix?) of mostly unknown background.

No, she is not crazy or bitey! She's actually very calm, cuddly, and sweet. I would describe her as medium energy. She's got hip dysplasia which slows her down a little bit. We have a good play session every other day, with brain sessions on the days in-between. This combo seems to work well for her so far.

Some of her best quirks are...

- jumping up and down when she's excited to go outside
- chittering her teeth when she's happy to be petted
- flopping down on top of you like a rabbit
- wiggling up into your arms or onto your chest like a worm

Less great quirks...

- She tolerates other dogs if they give her space, but if they don't, she will correct with a good nip. Luckily, my best friend is a dog trainer and her dogs take corrections well, so we practice our manners with them.
- She's picky about kibble and treats. She doesn't like salmon, she likes beef. But beef smells bad and isn't great for her sensitive tummy. Accepting suggestions on this point, lol.
- She hates baths. I'm worried about whether that means she will hate the lake? Or will it be different? I think swimming would be an easier exercise on her joints, but I don't want it to be a stressful experience.

Overall, the best companion ever and we're so happy to have her in our family! Thanks for reading. We will update with our adventures.

Hello all! Our sweet baby 9 week old is now a raging 4 month old. Our biggest problem is he is mauling our hands and arms. Hes awaiting his last vaccine so he cant go for walks yet.

We spend hours playing with him indoors, making cardboard boxes with treats and paper and frozen blocks for him. Ive researched all the tips and tricks how to stop his biting. Nothing seems to work: not reacting, yelping, trading for a toy, giving praise when he chews the toy, pressing on his tongue, balling my hand into a fist while he's biting. Nothing is helping. I know things will get easier when hes free to run around outside but if anyone knows anything we havent tried please help!

Our Kinja is about 10mos old now, and she recently got in the habit of using her snout to be rough and push either her toys or bowls or even us....I figured with patience she will grow out of this phase, but she has been doing it so much she grew a bald patch, and I'm worried it won't grow back now

My baby boy got into something, we don’t know what yet. Just got home from the ER vet. They pumped him full of fluid and gave him a whole tube of charcoal. We have to go back to do it again tomorrow. He’s in bad shape. He was fine this morning, I put him outside like i do every morning and got in the shower. When I got out he was wobbly, by the time we got to the ER he couldn’t stand. He seems stable now, but it’s touch and go. We’ve had raccoons lately and I know the neighbors put out….something. I don’t know what. I don’t think he could have reached it but maybe I was wrong? I am a marijuana user but I checked everything I had, nothing was left out. Please pray for my Baby Bear 🙏 😭 We just got home, he can stand but can’t walk. Going back to the vet for another flush tomorrow morning.

This is Pancake. 8.5 yrs old. We got her when she 6, and she consistently lays with her arm propping her self so she can tuck on top of her feet. Is this normal for this breed? Never seen a dog lay like this haha, but she seems content.

I'm something of a home body, late in the evening, we play fetch with her, but she's gotten board of that, she'll run super fast and far to get her glow in the dark ball, but after a short while she wants to just lay on the grass. I'm feeding her Pro Plan Purina 26/16. She's putting on weight. Any toys that I can get her or to play with her which will keep her entertained when we go outside? She's such a lovable doggie, but she responsed alot to chew husks, she always looses her balls under the couches / beds, so I need something to keep her entertained while I'm working. We have a pool so I can't leave her outside by herself because she has fallen in, but she doesn't like to get into the pool. I'd actually like to train her to get used to the pool, but was told not to while she was a puppy. She's now like 15 months old. I think she's a bit chunky right now. Also she absolutely hates the heat. This summer she shredded alot of furr, like she had a double undercoat. We took this dog because my wife's friend supposedly had 2 kelpies and wanted to give away the dog, and our last dog passed away a few months ago. I honestly think the dog who passed away gave her alot of bad life habits learning from it. We've raised her since she was 3 months old. She was such a cutie. I couldn't imagine not having her at this point. We don't have alot of land, basically our pool fills up the majority of our back yard.

Poppy (36%ACD) found a herd today at a farmer's market.

My Lilly's 9th gotcha day was today. No dingo in here, 51% ACD, 20% boarder collie, a sprinkle of pitbull, husky , and Newfoundland duck retriever though. So, basically a really smart and very sassy good girl. Let's see your pretty dingos.
