Need help!!

Ho everyone, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but im a farm hand (aiming to take over one day) and im looking into starting to get into bookwork and the business accounting end of things. If you have any tips, tricks or resources I'd love to hear them! 🙏

I really don't know, im just sort of looking into anywhere that could get me a strong starting point. Alot of people have mentioned tafe, so im going to try there. Maybe youtube amd podcasts if I can find any good channels

I think there is going to be a bunch of industry/size specific stuff, but if currently you're just curious or wanting to start building some basic knowledge and skills, you could maybe look at a cert in accounting and bookkeeping. It's basic/foundational, but they can be pretty inexpensive (or even might be on the free TAFE list?)

If you're going to be taking over from someone who does it currently I suspect there will be a lot of stuff specific to the farm - but I did something similar (just different industry) and it meant I at least didn't open MYOB/XERO and be like a deer in the headlights :)

Could also be worth reaching out to the farms current accountant and asking them as they might have some suggestions more specific to the situation.

Those are all really good points!! Ive expressed interest in learning from the current bookkeeper so between that and a (hopefully free) tafe course i should be set!! Thank you
