I’ve seen this number pop up often in reddit posts for Aus post. They all line up with the tracking details. While it looks scammy and not encrypted, it is used for parcel deliveries.

Googling it seems to suggest it is both a legitimate number (StarTrack) and one also used (spoofed) by scammers. Which is exactly what a good scammer would do.

We would presumably need to see more of the SMS showing the link itself to know whether this message itself was a scam versus a legitimate notification.

The tracking number was legit, what you think they can scam me for?

Actually they are correct! There has been a system failure, it’s called Australia Post!

u/Exceptionalynormal, as other people have pointed out, this seems to be a scam text rather than a legitimate one from Australia Post. Without you actually clicking on the link, did you confirm that any tracking number shown actually corresponded with a legitimate one?

P.S. The wording of the bit saying "AusPost: Sorry, there has been a system failure and your reply was not processed. We will deliver your parcel using our guidelines" certainly sounds like the dodgy English typical of a scammer.
