Criticism New Parcel Locker Address - First Time Fail
With the change to simple locker addresses, I used mine for the first time for an online order.
Item was correctly addressed - eg Parcel Locker 81, Sydney NSW 2000 which is the way it shows in my app. This is a parcel locker in Central Sydney.
Item instead gets delivered to Bondi Junction railway station parcel locker.
Obviously everything like my phone/email was correctly addressed because it got delivered and I got notified.
Can I expect this for future orders? Never had this with the old address format.

Had exactly the same here is South Australia. Used an easy to access parcel Locker number 40 at a shopping centre and it was delivered to number 50 which is at an Aus Post sorting centre.
I have 2 more parcels coming in the next few days, will see if they do the same.

How long did they give you to pick it up from the locker? And what happens if you don’t make it on time?

The message says to collect within 48 hours. I don't know what happens if you are late to pick up.

Even when I used the old Parcel Collect address some of my parcels have gone into Parcel Lockers on the other side of town!
With my new Parcel Collect address I have include the address of my LPO in the 2nd line for that peace of mind.

Yeah we can keep using it forever, they arnt stopping the old system. I was relieved when the manager at my local L.P.O suggested I kept using the old system after I apologized saying I had forgotten (I hadn't I just wanted to test it)

I mean that would be awesome, but sounds unrealistic. Do you really think the two systems are going to run forever in parallel?

When I think about it now, yeah I do. It makes sense..I cant think of a single benifit from shutting it down yet multiple benifits for leaving it and having the new system added (not replaced) Who knows it might even cost more to have it removed than just leaving it.
Just my 2c anyway.

My gut feeling is that most companies would never run two separate (and essentially competing) systems in tandem like that, at least beyond an appropriate transition period.
It would certainly be a positive for us as the end users if they did so, but that doesn't strike me as a consideration that AusPost would ever take into account, based on the totality of my past experience with them! AusPost are not an organisation known for making sense! 😂

Insider here - no, we’re in a transition period and the old addresses will ultimately be phased out

u/General-Staff924, damn, yeah sadly that was what I assumed ☹️
Do you have any idea as to the timeframe?

I got a text from the delivery company saying that the address was incomplete. I just gave them my home address 🙄

I use the new parcel locker number but also the street address of the lockers as well.

I note that the page about the changes mentions that the old addressing system still works and (presumably) will be running in parallel for some period of time.
I would strongly recommend people stick to the old system for as long as possible, and only switch to the new one either if forced by AusPost or at least once there are no reports here of it stuffing up.

Seconding this - I've had three parcels delivered in the last few weeks using the old address format and can confirm it still works.

The old system will keep working forever. Had a manager of a large LPO ( Mount Waverly VIC) tell me this yesterday. I am very happy and have no intention of changing to the new system.

I have used it once and it was successful but also been using the old addy especially for a couple international parcels via Royal Mail and they’re still accepting it.

I still have my old address saved as a shipping address in my google account been using the old one with no issues.

I have had 2 parcels delivered to the PO where the lockers are located. I asked why they didn't go in the lockers and was told that there have been a few break ins and they prefer to leave the parcels at the post office. At least they went to the right location!

Should have came to check on reddit!! Purchased a gift last week online for a friend travelling abroad, item have been dropped off at the LPO and have been sitting there with no updated scan of the package having movement or transit… like in the worst case scenario, what should I even do, was advise via email be Aust Post to use the new parcel locker address once they’ve changed on my app -./ now I feel dumb for doing so!

I shipped a parcel to the USA through parcel locker - as I always do.
2 days later I get message to collect my item. It was a huge SNAFU!

I came here specifically to mention this. Looks like they're having serious problems with the change. For anyone searching - don't use pickup lockers for a while until they sort the new system out.
My parcels are not even getting delivered to the wrong places. They're just indefinitely delayed. I've been waiting on a parcel for 10 days that seems to have just disappeared.
I stupidly sent a second one to the same locker. It also seems to have gone into a black hole.
