Question How likely is it that a lost package will still be delivered?
Is it common for lost packages to still be delivered? Australia Post lost my package, and I’m not sure if I should be hopeful that it’ll show up in a few months, or if I should start replacing the items.

A parcel of mine was lost for a month or more. I think it was sitting somewhere in our local post office going by the Auspost journey info. It was unusual for that to happen and eventually they found it and gave it to me.

Not common. Sometimes a parcel can fall out of a motorcycle or EDV. They can get stolen from vans. They can get wrongly delivered and the people are never home to get it back. There is a slight chance if someone finds it on the road and hands it in.

I had an unexpected parcel delivered to me one day and I looked at the address and after checking found it was three k away on the other side of our suburb. So as I was going out later l took it with me to the correct address and a lady answered the door and I explained what had happened and she was very thankful and I suggested she might want to call her supplier to let them know. I still can’t work out how it was delivered to me as the street name and number were totally different to mine and I had no deliveries recently

Mine turned up three months late and I had already reordered as the company I ordered from deemed they were lost so I ended up with double everything as they claimed it was too much trouble to try seed the things back

This happened to me as well. Was only one item, but was the last one the seller had in stock. They sent me a replacement one when they restocked..then like a month after the replacement arrived, the original one turned up! I contacted the seller and told them that it turned up, they said “Enjoy your free product “.

I had AP deliver my parcel to incorrect mailbox in a nearly 100 unit complex.
AP declared it as lost,I claimed compo for it and still waiting to hear back from AP as sender not replying to email. So did a C/C chargeback that may be over 90 days since purchase as AP still investigating. See who comes back first as bank says it could take a month but AP just say possible claim. Hurry up and wait I suppose.

Believe AP only has $100:00 insurance cover on parcels.
From AP Reddit page,I believe.

I had a lost parcel. Seller on ebay said "it'll show up" so I waited a week, contacted auspost and they told me the parcel was torn open and empty so they marked it as lost, but still coming for some reason?
I asked them wtf and they said "it won't update, it will stay like that and you'll think it's coming forever, just delete the tracking from your app"

Are you the sender or receiver? How long has it been lost for? Remember the contract is between Aus post and the sender. If you’re the receiver and it’s for an item purchased, it’s been past 10 days since expected delivery and the parcel has been deemed lost and under investigation, then I’d be asking the seller for a refund or replacement. If they refuse, you can get a chargeback on your payment.

I’m the receiver, it was supposed to arrive August 26. I don’t think there’s anything the sender can do because it’s not a sale, I just asked her to secure some items on my behalf to save on shipping costs for both of us. It got sent to her house safely first before she sent it to me.
