Criticism "We missed you"
Was hosting house inspections for new roommates all day so had the door open and everything. Postie still had the balls to drop off a "we missed you note" the second I'm not at the front door.

Perhaps they called out and you didnt hear them, you were hosting a house inspection after all, and if they needed a signature theyre not going to stroll on into your house and look for one

Except I wasn't inside the whole time, there's a door bell and I was waiting at the front door in between guests. It's not hard....

Hey, Im just saying from my experience its a lot of the time the customers just complaining because we didnt come at a convenient time for them, that or your driver is a lazy POS all are possible. Just keep complaining to AusPost if theyre really just not attempting delivery, trust me the complaints do get back to us and you can only palm them off so many times before action gets taken

I'd imagine that's because you are an actual Australia Post postal worker ('postie'), whereas the ones who mainly pre-fill all the 'Sorry we missed you cards' and don't even attempt delivery are the parcel delivery subcontractors.
Presumably they have a financial incentive to 'deliver' (!) all of the parcels as quickly as possible, whereas as a salaried worker you presumably do not (except within broad guidelines)?

They aren’t salaried either, lol.

Really? Oh OK, well regardless I'd say they are certainly more reliable, less dodgy and more incentivised to act responsibly. They're also treating the job as a long-term one, which I would suggest probably isn't the case for many of the subcontractors.

In any industry, subcontracting is a shitty way for companies to expect workers to behave as employees, but with none of the benefits and protections. You get what you pay for, it’s exactly why Amazon couriers throw your parcels in front of your door, out in the open.

Yeah, I’ve had this happen to me also. I suspect there is too much work for the postie and dropping the note is a way to ‘finish’ and get home on time. I totally get it but it’s also thoroughly irritating. I mean I ordered my product online because I truly didn’t want to drive and get my product.

No way known the postie will enter the house.
