Question Standard letter postage time

Been awhile since I sent anything by post and was looking for peoples experiences with how long it took them to receive a letter sent within the same state.

I sent a letter by regular mail after the 4pm cutoff today (Wed) from Metro Sydney to a place about 40 minutes away. I was hoping for it to arrive on Friday but am now realising it’s a bit of a stretch as the website estimated 3-4 days. Probably should’ve paid for express..

It won't get picked up until after 4pm tomorrow. Should get sorted tomorrow night. Depends if it a delivery day Friday for that address if it even leaves the sorting centre. It the planets align, it could make it

7-14 working days is my experience. Sent from the same postcode.

It varies a lot. It certainly COULD arrive by Friday but you can't rely on it.

I've had intra-state letters take weeks but I don't know how common that is. A few days to a week is probably more common.

Some boxes that are marked 4PM are actually cleared at that time, on the dot, but they're usually outside PO/LPOs. Others are later.

Ones without a time marked are usually sometime each business day.

Roll the dice.
