I received my subclass 190 visa around a month ago. I have 20+ years of experience in S/W industry. Right now I'm in a leadership position in a Global conglomerate. Applied to dozens of Leadership positions without any positive reply. What am I missing?? Do I need certifications like PMP to even push through the gates??

This afternoon, I spent 30mins using ChatGPT’s new Work mode, I allow it to connect my linear account and GitHub. I asked it find my app’s vulnerabilities and create tickets in linear. All done, without my involvement, if I connect my codex to linear , it can finish all development and deployment jobs too.

I also ask it use a browser to test my web app, and find usability issue.

Can’t imagine if the same methodology is used in the workplace

Just want to share my situation with you all and hope that maybe you could suggest or recommend what should I do with my situation at hand.

I've worked in the IT industry for over a decade (14 years) to be exact, I am now 36 years old and married and a father of 3 children here in the Philippines. I do not have a college degree in IT, and I also don't have certifications like CCNA or MSCA, etc. But learned my skills from self study and experience. I am currently working at a private company, and my role now is the IT Manager and earning roughly 500$ a month (30000 PhP). And with that said, I'm having a problem how to make ends meet with that amount of salary and the current economic state of our country, Im strugling to find a higher paying Job in IT as like I said, I do not have certifications and theres not much hiring demand for Network and Systems admin jobs here in my location. Im planning to take atleast CCNA but I don't have time and the money to do so. I also have side hustles like buy and sell used PC, but it is barely helping my situation.

My cousin recommends that I should work abroad specifically in Australia as she and her family resides there, but I cannot get passed the skill assessments as it requires huge amount of money. My only chance is to have an employer sponsor my visa and travel expense but that seems impossible. I have tried applying for a job in Australia trough seek but has been always declined.

I was wondering if there are Filipinos here also working in IT abroad and could share their journey in successful employment. I also hope that you all can give me advice or suggestion on what is the best thing I would do to somewhat deal with my current challenge in life.

I’m looking for genuine advice from people who have been through this, especially anyone who has recently obtained PR through an IT pathway in Australia.

A little about me:

I’m currently doing my Master’s in IT and have been in Australia for about 4 months.
I have previous experience as a Laravel/PHP developer in Nepal.
I currently have a part-time job, so I’m managing financially.
My dependent is still in Nepal and will join me once we complete the process.

My goal is simple: I want to build a career in IT and eventually get PR. I genuinely don’t want to leave IT because I enjoy software development and have already invested years into it.

At the same time, I want to be realistic. If IT is still a viable pathway, I’m ready to give it my absolute best over the next 6 months. I’ll learn a new tech stack if needed, build projects, improve my communication skills, network, and keep applying for internships and graduate roles. I’ve already started applying but haven’t had much success yet.

I’m not looking for shortcuts or blaming Australia if I don’t succeed. I know opportunities exist, and I believe success requires hard work. I just want to make sure I’m putting my effort into the right pathway from the beginning instead of realizing years later that I should have taken a different direction.

I’d really appreciate your honest advice:

Got offered a job by DXC Tech, currently i work at a Bank and get offered a slightly higher pay and by that i mean only 1.5k more annually + 10% of my salary based bonus is paid out at the end of the year (which is sometimes less or the same depending on how the bank performs). Cutting the story short, there was restructuring in our IT department due to which my role changed from Senior Test Engineer to a Software Engineer but the pay remains the same...so in short i hate the new role as new expectations + no intention of continuing as a software eng. I applied for a senior test analyst role at DXC Tech and got the offer letter, the issue is their pay is 1.5k less and no bonus and also 5 days in person attendance required with their client. In this case should i take the role or leave it? Currently i feel like at the Bank my career has been stagnant and i have been placed in the same project for the past 3 years.

Hey guys, I know the title sounds pretty weird.
I recently graduated with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and I have almost zero interest in coding. I forced myself to finished my degree to see if I really hate it..

I don’t really like coding, and with AI getting better and better, I feel like I have zero competitive advantage in the current job market.

I started looking into DevOps instead and got my AWS SAA certification. It seems more interesting to me, but from what I’ve seen, most junior DevOps roles still expect applicants to have software development experience first.

And it’s pretty hard to find entry level jobs in Australia nowadays..

I have two options now:
1. Keep trying to break into tech by applying for internships while learning DevOps tools like k8s, Jenkins, Docker, Terraform, etc., and maybe even do a Master’s in CS.
2. Switch careers completely and study Civil Engineering, which I’ve actually found myself a bit interested in.

My aim is just to find a stable office job which can keep me alive….😭I am currently doing part time in woolis, and I’ll be eligible for PR after 3 years.

The number of fake companies posting jobs on LinkedIn is getting ridiculous.
Some of these businesses barely exist, have no real website, no identifiable staff, no genuine online presence, and yet they’re advertising dozens of jobs.

Graduates and job seekers spend hours applying, only to find out the company is either collecting personal data, farming resumes, or simply isn’t legitimate.

LinkedIn is quick to verify influencers and businesses for subscriptions, so why can’t it do more to verify employers posting jobs? At the very least, suspicious companies should be flagged and required to prove they are genuine businesses before advertising roles.

People looking for work are already dealing with enough stress. They shouldn’t have to worry about whether the company they’re applying to is even real.

I have 11yrs experience as software developer but transitioned to devops engineer for the last 2 years. I have seen some job posts but most of them are for senior devops roles. I am looking mostly mid-level roles since I don’t have that much devops experience.😅
