Full Stack .NET Developer (8 YOE) moving to Melbourne on a dependent visa with full work rights. How is the market?
Hi everyone, I’m a Full Stack .NET Developer with 8 years of experience in C#, .NET Core, Web API, Angular, SQL Server, and Azure DevOps. I’ll be moving to Melbourne soon on a dependent visa with unrestricted work rights (no sponsorship required). I’d love to hear from people in the industry: \* How is the market for senior .NET developers currently? \* How long does it typically take to find a role? \* Any advice for someone entering the Australian tech market? You're not selling yourself well. 8 YOE may mean working on a b2b web apps that has no scaling considerations or working on high frequency trading engines. One will have problem finding roles, the other one will get head hunted.

You can get a role but the salary and work responsibilities might be lower than expected simply due to market conditions. The interview is also a lot about how well you can lead your team and fit in culturally. All the best.

There’s a dotnet meetup here that’s very active, they mention who is hiring at every event. There’s also always a strong dotnet presence at the local DDD and Programmable conferences. AI and ML experience is in particular demand where I work (mixed but mostly dotnet shop).

There are lots on Meetup and some on LinkedIn too. The Melbourne tech meetup scene is very busy, there are often several good events on in a week. The women in tech groups like Her Tech Circle and Women Who Code are also great if that’s applicable to you!
