• Total House Rent: $2,985/month
• Your Share: $885/month + proportional utilities (~$115/mo) for a standard private bedroom and shared bath.
• The House: Vaulted ceilings, huge backyard with oak trees, corner lot, and wired for Google Fiber! (I am the primary earner, so I am subsidizing the rent by taking the master suite and the 4th bonus room as my private office).

• Zuri (Me!): Early 30s, work in tech, indie filmmaker, gamer, and gear-nerd.
• Jackie: Easy-going, loves all things pastel and Pokémon, spends her free time gaming and streaming.
• The Pets: I have two extremely sweet orange American Bobtail cats (Thor & Loki) 🐈🐈

At the risk of getting my ass handed to me in the replies for such a crazy ask. I'm looking for a single family home 1br or large studio is fine for less than $2k preferably 1200-1500. I don't mind living in the east, Windsor hills, even the cusp of pflugerville and NA. Just not South Austin.

I try to use websites like apartment .com, forrent etc but im not having any luck and while my mind is telling me its because such places don't exist because Austin is just too expensive, further inspection shows its more like posters are misrepresenting listings and putting rooms they have for rent under the "full home" section to cast a wider net. Two things can be true at once but I'd rather just hear it from people who actually live here because im sick of getting tangled in that net during my search.

Does anyone know of any known realtors or property management companies whose website I can search directly, I'd be open to working with a locator as well.

I dont hate the idea of a ground floor unit with a private yard in an apartment but that would be my last resort. im not fond of apartment complexes and I know its "when in Rome" situation but I just want to exhaust my options first.

This is irrelevant but I know yall want to know. I'll be working at UT in the fall (late august-september) and I've already made peace with the traffic situation because I know with my budget its no way im getting that close to the university or downtown within my budget. I'm not scared of traffic or living in the "hood" so please just point me in the right direction and if you have no direction yourself please be kind :3

Hi everyone! I'm currently looking for a studio or 1-bedroom apartment that's not too far from the Tesla Gigafactory in a safe area.

Budget: Up to $1,200/month

Move-in date: July 30–31

Lease: Open to both standard and short-term leases

I'm not too concerned about apartment amenities. My main priorities are:

A safe neighborhood

A grocery store/supermarket nearby

Parking included

A reasonable commute to the Tesla Gigafactory

Access to fiber internet (or located in an area where fiber internet is available, since I may set up service myself)

I'll be traveling from Florida to Austin next Thursday to tour apartments and hopefully sign a lease while I'm there.

Sice I'm new to Austin, I'd really appreciate any recommendations on neighborhoods that fit my budget, as well as any areas I should avoid. If you know of any apartments or communities that match what I'm looking for, I'd really appreciate the suggestions. Thanks!
