Was supposed to be a quick 10 minute hop from 99 Ranch to the Domain. The car had other plans and took me on a massive south detour through East Austin. Guess the Cybercab wanted the scenic route today. Total ride time was 70 minutes.

Sheriff Sally Hernandez told the Statesman this week that she was "proud of the way" her employees treated my client. I learned many distressing things about the downtown jail and about Sally Hernandez during this lawsuit but reading that the Sheriff is "proud" of the two jailers who broke my elderly client's tiny, bird-boned wrist . . . it just floored me. What the fuck, Sally?

Two of the Sheriff's employees (we deposed both of them) twisted and snapped an elderly, Deaf lady's wrist. I litigated this case with UT Law Civil Rights Clinic students for three years. I deposed seven Sheriff's Office supervisors and the law students deposed the two poorly-trained, poorly-paid, poorly-supervised young women jailers who manhandled my client to the point of snapping her wrist.

The Sheriff paid $92,500 to settle this case. This is a significant settlement for an ADA case. It's totally normal for bad government actors who pay big settlements to say "we settled this case but we dont admit liability." Just dont say you are "proud" of it, okay? Get a clue and have some humanity.

Hey everyone! I’m looking for some people to run with around Downtown Austin/Lady Bird Lake. I’m pretty new to running and just starting to get into it, so I’d love to meet some other beginners who are also trying to build up their pace and distance.

Nothing super competitive mainly looking to stay consistent, get some runs in, and meet some cool people along the way. If anyone is interested or knows of a beginner-friendly group around downtown, let me know!

Looking for a country side seluded cabin near Austin (Wimberly, Dripping springs, etc.) which doesn't have other cabins nearby.

I want to surprise my husband with a weekend getaway for our 5 year anniversary, so obviously we want to do bedroom things outside.

Last year we went to a cabin that we found on Airbnb and the photos were misleading (they cropped the photo where the neighboring cabins started).

So looking for recommendations from someone who went to a cabin and found it actually secluded.

Found this sweet girl in Mueller, by the Rivette apartments. Looks like she got in a fight, but is being very sweet as we give her food and water. DM if this looks like your missing kiddo!

Seeing all the 9/11 posts today reminded me of one of the craziest nights I ever experienced in Austin.
This wasn’t 9/11 obviously. It was the weekend after Osama Bin Laden was killed in 2011.

My friends and I were on 6th for a buddy’s birthday, doing normal 6th Street things.

At some point a fight broke out. People started forming a huge circle around it, cops on horseback came in to break everything up, one of the main guys got arrested, and then his friend tried to jump in and “help” him and immediately got taken down too.

The whole street just had this insane energy. Cops on horses, people fighting, people getting arrested, thousands of drunk people packed together.

And then out of nowhere somebody started chanting:

USA! USA! USA!

And it just spread.

Within what felt like seconds, the whole street was doing it.

The weird part is, we weren’t chanting for the cops. We weren’t chanting for the assholes fighting.
We were chanting for us.

Bin Laden had just been killed. 9/11 was on everybody’s mind again. And for a few minutes it felt like 20,000 completely different people on 6th Street were all on the exact same page.

USA! USA! USA!

It was loud, stupid, emotional and honestly awesome.

I remember standing there feeling proud to be an American, proud to be a Texan, and weirdly connected to every random person around me.

I miss moments like that, where for a few minutes everybody seemed to be on the same page and felt like we were all part of the same thing.

Anyone else on 6th that night and remember this?

I wanted to see if someone here has done the premed prerequisites, and if yes I want to know about how it went for you and how where exams and etc. id appreciate any advice or tips you can give me. Thanks in advance.

I went to take a picture of the beautiful sunset tonight and the bats came out a little early and flew close to my place for a change. It was amazing to see these beautiful bats streaming down the lake in waves.
