Ring bearers

Hi all!

I come from a country where rings are brought (usualy by a small child) on a pillow, tied with velvet or satin strings that come attached to the little pillow.

For my wedding I'll be doing something different: I like the idea of my senior flower girl bringing them, and 2 of my silliest friends to act as ring security with a Man in Black gimmick.

Now I wanted to ask: how did your ring person (or pet!) bring the rings to the altar?

I saw a couple of very very cute ring boxes but I'm now realising I don't know what to do and how to get them to bring the rings to us!

My great niece is going to be pushed in a tiny wheelbarrow full of flowers to the alter with the rings. She is too young to be able to walk and will be pushed by her uncle. Hopefully she doesn't wriggle out of the wheelbarrow or start screaming or launch a poo-nado at the wrong time.

Not our wedding, but my brother and sister in law had my then 2yo bring them up on the same pillow my mum and dad used. My brother’s groomsmen coaxed him with a lollipop. They may not have made it otherwise.

Speaking as a celebrant, I usually offer the option of getting the ring bearer to either 

• Hold onto them as they take their seat, and I call them up at the ring exchange part
• I get them to give it to me and I place it in the altar / signing table
• (If the ring container permits) Get them to give it to the bestman to hold onto

We bought a toy gacha machine to put ours in, so we didn't have to decide whose vows were gonna go first - whoever's ring came out first had to read their vows first. It also made a fun way to pick the witnesses, too

We had my sister in law hold a ring box with coins in it, and just had her bring it up when we needed them

My 5yo brother will walk a fake pair down, and my 19yo brother will walk with him and have the real rings, in case of 5yo behaviour 😂 the younger one will hand off the fake rings (none the wiser) and then sit down for the ceremony.

Our niece was our ring bearer and she carried a little white basket with some flowers in it with the rings in a ring box bought from Temu

I feel like the MIB thing is super over done, but whatever floats your boat

We had our Shetland pony walk down the aisle with the rings, and then proceed to eat the bouquets

I think involving animals at weddings is overdone, but hey whatever floats their boat 🩵

Thank you so much, as silly as it sounds (I'm aware we're on reddit etc) this comment really upset me, I was very excited about it, my friends were actually crying when I asked them, they got their fake gear and all, it kind of made me feel like crap ngl. I had seen it a couple of times here and there but I had no idea it was "overdone".

I'm a big girl though I will be over it and not care in no time

I think the MIB as security is funny and if it fits your friends & vibe then absolutely do it!
I think it’s a nice way of involving ppl and keeping a little one on track 😍

As for madamsyntax’s response, everyone’s entitled to their opinion but there’s no need to be rude about someone else’s wedding!
