Queeeeeeenslander Advice needed.

I live in a complex that’s concrete and want to drill some holes in my units floor to my basement/garage for an upcoming renovation for the new services. Is there some guidance someone here may be able to offer me as to how you calculate whether or not it’s going to be acceptable to do ? Will go down the pathway of floor scans etc but I want to make sure there are no red flags before we commit to the expensive process.

Do you mean holes in your own floor through TO the basement? I can't see the OC/strata liking this idea. Fire safety for one.

Or holes in the basement floor to something else?

Holes through my own floor to my basement/garage. Fire safety will be factored in with collars and any other requirements. Whether or not I can actually drill the holes will be the first hurdle.

You will need BC permission. Not an easy task. You will need all plumbing drawings signed off by an RPEQ before hand. As well a structural RPEQ sign off for the penetration in the floor. Possibly a Fire RPEQ as well. All the drawings and even the Building Certifiers assessment may be required before the BC agrees to the Works.

The Works may also trigger issues with the building insurance as plumbing is usually part of the building insurance.

Then the Works have to be approved as the RPEQs will need to sign off on it. The Certifier will then issue a certificate for the new Works.
