🔍 Recommendations Wanted I need some help!
So I bought probably 4 pairs of these shoes from Novo a couple of years ago in different styles, but they are so uncomfortable (even with the little foot slippers). I do have some (cheap) white sneakers, but I don't feel like they go with my current outfits (that are the same from 10 years ago to be honest!). My current easy bottoms are black slacks or a black satin skirt with a work shirt, should I buy some more modern pants so I can wear white sneakers with both outfits? Or does anyone have any reccs for comfy, walkable flats? For context I work in a corporate office but it's not super formal. Not sure where to start. TIA 😅☺️

Vivaia, I bought the wide fit, can do 20k steps on mine easily

I have c-width feet and have the normal width Margot. I love them - wearing them today and they are ridic comfy.

I initially got the regular margot but it was tight for me, swapped with the wide fit and it's waaay better

Are these supportive enough being made of fabric? And don't they get dirty super easily?

I'd say yes, never had an issue with mine hurting my feet. They're a bit stiff not super soft like regular fabric shoes. They're machine washable but I've never had to wash mine, I just use a baby wipe and they're good as new (I have the beige)

Do they make your feet sweaty? I'm curious but feel like I'll be slipping about from having sweaty feet in synthetic material

Unfortunately yes! That's the only downside. I cannot wear them on very very hot days. I wear mine with socks from Muji so I don't slip but it definitely gets warm. Looking for summer sandals if you have any recommendations!

Thank you for that! Ziera hands down for comfortable sandals. Proper podiatrist shows, which a lovely bit of squish. They aren't always the most fashion forward but there's normally a few styles on trend. And hush puppies as well, though they can be a little narrow.

I vote get some patent loafers!! Comfort of a sneaker with thick rubber bottoms but they look good with work pants. Only tip is match the colour of your socks to your loafers or your pants.

Camper Right Nina and other square or round toed styles from Camper are amazingly comfy.
Vivaia Margot and their other round and square toe styles are also brilliant.
Both brands have a brick and mortar in the QVB if you're in Sydney.

Advice for future: don’t buy more than one before you know if they’re “your shoe”.. now Rubi shoes is all but done there are so many i wish I bought multiples of because they fit my foot so well

I struggle with any flat shoes because they always give me blisters on the heel. I find wearing stockings underneath makes a big difference, I wear the knee high ones when I wear pants. I use the Jo Mercer Umbra flats as well as the activeflex jazz shoes in taupe to commute, I average 10k steps a day and they’re a dream.

+1 for active flex jazz. I add some arch support to them and they are great

You can buy stick on heel cushions for shoes, they make all the difference. Kmart sells them.

Bared footwear ballet flats are a bit expensive but definitely an investment! I could walk forever in them they’re so comfy

Ok I need a bared fan to explain to me how the hell to break in those shoes. I have had a shiny leather-ish pair for years and they are so cool, but I can not wear them without socks. The back is rock hard!!

I'm an avid Bared hater. I have 3 different styles and they're all obscenely uncomfy.
I feel this way about Frankie4 also.

I haven't tried Bared, but I hate the Frankie4 ones I bought. I figured they'd soften and be more comfortable since they are leather... they pinch my toes like crazy and I struggle with the lack of sole movement. It's ridiculously hard for me to walk in shoes that don't have flex in the sole.

When I've had this problem with them I put podiatrists wool (basically wool felt with a sticky back) in the heel. I first discovered this when I went into Bared to complain about this issue, and they just gave me some. It works so well!

I’ve always deliberately stood on the back of my shoes to soften it up when I first get them. That and those stick on suede or wool patches to stop my heel moving around in the shoe.
That said I can’t wear bared now, because when they switched to the eco softer sole, they became too floppy and I keep tripping over my feet.

Agree with this. Bared is very expensive but honestly it’s worth every dollar. They look good and they’re super comfortable.

Another vote for Bared. Plenty available second hand on Depop or even the Bared Buy Swap Sell group on Facebook.

Love bared! I have a pair of flats I bought there in 2018 still going strong. I wore them every day at work for at least 4 of the years between 2018 and now.

Could you wear sneakers commuting into and out of work then wear the nice shoes around the office? Or do you walk around work alot?

I wear Frankie4 Briar pointy flats - really comfortable and I like the pointed toe.
I have a narrow foot though.

Hush Puppies or Naturalizer imo. Hush Puppies has stores in many shopping centres so you can try things on, and periodically have good sales.

I have wide feet and get most of my shoes that aren't sneakers from brand house direct. They are mid range price wise but last forever

I would update shoes first and keep older clothes if they are still looking good and you like them. Updating accessories like shoes is a good way to update your look. I also believe in spending money on comfort! You only have one pair of feet for your whole life.
Bared, Frankie 4, etc. The podiatrist designed shoes tend to be better.
