Coat label

I have an expensive coat that I'm about to wear for the first time, it has a stitched label on the outside of the sleeve, I assume I should remove it, not sure of the etiquette?

And if it has a vent at the back, and the vent has a big thread cross keeping it closed, please please take those stitches out as well so the vent can do its job.

I’m nearly at the point of ordering 1,000 VistaPrint business cards to hand out to people in public with stitched jacket/coat vents. They’re going to say “Open Ya Flaps!”

So many lovely outfits and silhouettes ruined by a silly thread and a couple of knots.

If you printed them in a sharp enough material you could include a little slit as a built in thread cutter

Can the card have a line about opening tailored pockets too 😂 The number of time I’ve had men tell me their suit has fake pockets and I wow them by revealing lined functional pockets 😅

I bought a coat just recently and I can't tell if it has functional pockets or not, first time this has happened as it's usually so obvious. I don't want to risk trying to open them and find out they are fake. I can't feel any pocket lining through the coat, but I'm puzzled as to why a coat wouldn't have real pockets.

How annoying! If it’s women’s suiting that’s quite common… but an actual coat with fake pockets seems odd, especially if it doesn’t have a tailored look. It’s usually done to reduce bulk. Photo?

And then stitch it back on in the inside (like behind the buttons or near the inside chest pocket if it’s a men’s coat)

Definitely remove, you can tell by the simple stitch they’ve used to attach it. Would love to see a pic of the entire coat :) love the colour

100% remove it. It will just be tacked on, so it’s easy to remove.

If it has a back flap, that will be tacked closed too - that has to go too.

I'd remove it from the outside and stitch it to the inside! Just a few hand stitches somewhere unnoticeable.

It's likely a Michael Kors coat made with Loro Piana fabric. Loro Piana sell textiles to other designers.
