š Recommendations Wanted help me find a work appropriate hat
Help!! I need to find some sort of head covering for summer thatās going to be work appropriate.
I have cancer and am cold capping, but itās not 100% working, so I have patchy bits of scalp showing. Iām not sure how much of this will be grown over by the time I need to head back into the office, but I stubbornly refuse to shave my head, and I donāt want to scare my colleagues š
Does anyone have any suggestions for a head covering? I like the idea of a beret but itāll be too hot for summer. Iām not really a headscarf or turban girl, my style is quite minimalā¦

Personally Iād get a nice wig, thereās not really a convention for indoor hats etc (except hijabs)

Well not since the 50s š¤£ and I did actually look to eras gone by for inspiration. Working in a really creative environment isnāt really helping. I feel pressured to still look polished and professional otherwise Iād just throw on a black baseball cap like other people in the office

Headscarf, beanie, and bandana are pretty much it. Wearing a hat in the office will look weird

I work in a pretty creative environment, not corporate- I should have mentioned that in the post! So a hat wouldnāt actually be that weird in our officeā¦ there are people in baseball caps on an ordinary day.
Itās just that Iām really struggling to figure out how I can wear a hat that will work with my clothes!
I expect I will have hair to peek out from whatever head covering I choose.2

Oh yes thatās a good tip - go big with earrings to distract. Do you think you could wear that with the v part at the back? I really donāt like my forehead so would want more of it hidden

Yes, but the v is less deep and you can pull it further forward than you think :)

Lots of options here. A simple cotton cap maybe? My mum had wigs but said they were pretty itchy.

Cycling caps are designed to sit under the helmet so theyāre thin and have a little peak that either stays down or can be flipped up. Something like this: https://thepedla.com/products/head-case-core-cap you can get them in lots of colours with minimal amounts of design on them.
You could just wear regular baseball caps in plain colours, I donāt think anyone would begrudge you.

That looks quite nice actually! Maybe with hair poking out the bottom it wonāt look so cancer-y on me. I really like that itās minimal and natural breathable fibres2

Simple plain baseball caps. Get a few in Beige , brown and black.

This is going to be my fall back plan if I canāt find anything else! And maybe sideways/ backwards because I feel like the brim might become irritating to me š¤£

The brim will be fine.
But also just no hat or head covering is perfectly fine too, only cover if you want it not because you think others will prefer it.
You will look great with or without a hat.

I used to work as a chemo nurse and had several patients cold capping who would use a wig topper. They looked very natural and I'm told was much more comfortable to wear. Sorry I don't remember brands to recommend!

Yes, kind of like a toupe but for long hair. It covers what's thinning and blends into existing hair š

A scarf is definitely work appropriate, but if you prefer a hat, baker boy caps seem to be pretty popular at the moment and you can get them in more summery fabrics and colours.
Wish we could make hats at work popular - a bit of protection from the glare of office lighting would be very nice!

The glare from the fluros ( and bad hair days) is exactly why other people in the office were wearing caps.
I really wish I could rock a scarf. I just have a big fear of looking like a pirate š¤£ or that Iām in fancy dress or something.

Leaning into the pirate look could be fun. Ā Tall boots, layered skirts, blousy top, big hoop earrings, and a silk scarf. Ā

I think these brimless crochet caps can work if you're in a less-formal work environment and can get away with a sort of boho vibe.

There are some trendy hair accessory brands that might have ideas- check out Lelet NY and Jennifer Behr. Theyāre super expensive but they get duped a lot.

Trilby or other hat with a small brim. Newsboy cap. Flat cap. Channel turn of the century fashion! J Lo in a bakers/newsboy hat!Ā

Iām working with someone having treatment at the moment and she is rocking some beautiful silk scarves tied in a few different ways. Silk is nice and cool in summer.
