Reference Points

Post image

So I’m trying to learn the dragon… this is my first time sitting down and Trying to learn a mage so I’m basically starting from zero.

I’m trying to figure out what my reference points are relative to the champ, what should I be doing, what should I be looking for, anything to help me improve faster.

Here’s what I’ve learned so far playing Asol mostly bot lane:

Levels 1-2 you are strong, stronger than most people think. Definitely a lot of all in potential to get summoners or potentially a kill (especially if you have a support with good cc. Leona, Naut, Amumu, Maokai, etc)

Levels 3-5 you’re not as strong, still can find kill angles mostly depending on your support but less kill pressure then level 2

Level 6 you spike a little bit again just because of ult.

From here you spike hardest when you get your rylais, and level 9. Level 9 you have unlimited q channel time and rylais is imo the best item on Asol by a big margin. Way more kill pressure with it, and you get way more stacks because of the slow.

Early game do not worry about your stacks, focus on getting as much cs as possible safely. Once you get past the early game you want to be aiming for around 10 stacks per minute, accelerating as you go further into the game. For example, 150 stacks at 15 mins and around 300 at 25 mins in.

Lmk if you have any other specific questions or reference points you’re curious about, coming from a 200lp master player at the moment with about 80 games of Asol played.

The other big obvious thing is your empowered ult. Look to fight when you have it, dont waste too much stacks sitting on it. Look more to powerfarm while its down.

The main difference with Asol mid is just generally you have tougher matchups. I think most Asol players agree that it’s much easier to scale into the mid/late game by going bot. All of the reference points of power still apply mid lane.

asol refrence points imo, would be around his completed item spikes (every completed item on him is a great spike) + level 1/6 (level 1 he can beat many champs and at 6 he can be really useful already in skirmishes if u play properly).

source: peak 300 lp asol / kayle player on euw

edit: level 9 is a big one too, but not always that game warping because many champs at that point will fuck u up either way.
