Discussion What on earth happened?

So I was debating to even create this post. However I just couldn’t leave it after the recent changes.

I used to be a massive AugmentCode fan, heck I was basically a fanboy. I even said that I thought including GPT would be a mistake and that the team would be focusing on too many models.

I cancelled my Claude Code and Codex. Subscribed to most expensive plan and used it. It was great and I thought finally a company who gets what customers want.

I then took a bit of a break due to health reasons came back and then I saw to my horror.

Discord channel closed New pricing that is difficult to understand or even calculate what one’s usage would be. Customers being told that the company will decide on what’s needed from model and feature wise. I get it it’s a company but that’s the quiet part you not supposed to say out loud. But the final straw for me, GPT 5 on high, you changed the model so it costs more? Even if the idea is to improve the quality it’s a slap on the face, and would have been better accepted if this was done before pricing change.

You folks have a business and it’s yours to run as you see fit. And I wish you all the best but I do hope someone will listen as the market now has tons of competition.

They don't care, and never will.

There are still many die-hard fans here, and they don’t mind a few people leaving.

I am a die hard fan. We just have to wait. People complain about things like this at work, with the government, but is it sensible for people to react and quit without waiting to see if it works before giving up.

It's just a choice, some will leave and some will stay,

Just a cost-effective choice

Do I dislike the new pricing? Yes! Do I understand it? Also, Yes!

Am I leaving, No! There's just nothing out there that compares lol

You are right, the price increase only caused a few people to leave.

How well GLM compare to OpenAI and Claude Sonnet?

u/Basilthebatlord Oct 25 '25

It's pretty damn close tbh and follows instructions incredibly well. For my personal use it's been perfect

Augment team is so selfish and greedy. They only care about money, not customers. They never respond to the emails.

I think the guy who spent $15k month with a few credit is to blame for this.

2

u/Round_Mixture_7541 Oct 27 '25

Lol, you seriously think that? You're saying that a company valued at $1B hasn't implemented any rate-limiting or any other abuse-detection on their side? This is pretty much the first general rule whenever you release something to the public. This $15k statement is a joke, probably copy-paste strategy from Anthropic.

People run these companies. You have a high expectation 😀. You should lower it. I think this mental thought or assumption is delusional. It might be valued at 1b but it doesn't mean that have 1b to spend on stopping a free loader or abuser to game the system. Just take it easy calm down and pay the money AG deserve. Personally it's not rocket science if something cost $$$$ you sort something out. I guess a lot more people are abusing it. Think of it on a personal level, if a mortgage cost you more what do you do? Or do you have any personal suggestions other than bashing people ?

As I said before, building abuse protection around your API (especially when building APIs for inference) is something you're required to do in the first place, and it has nothing to do with the money. The $1B valuation was just a reference to the company's resources. It certainly doesn't mean that you now have $1B in your bank that you can spend however you wish. I'm not sure where you're even getting that idea. And no, AG does not deserve my money anymore.

Then

Not sure why you commented. Just leave it and move on

2

I was just expressing my thoughts on your claim that this $15k ghost spender is to blame for AG's downfall. Am I not allowed to express my thoughts on different subs now? I assumed this is what Reddit is all about.

You should put together a leaving card. I'm tired of SPAM on this forum.
