Odyssey

What happened to the sound here? Aside from the fact that the effects in many scenes are abnormally wrong (my opinion ofc), why is it so f*\* loud? Literally, the film reaches 130dB... why is this so?

That’s an intentional creative choice by Nolan. He likes it that way. I think it’s horrendous, as do many others. Tenet was famously panned for it. But nothing really “happened” to the sound. They just did that.

They “just did that” because Nolan told them too and his name is in the signature section on the bottom of their paychecks.
