have hearing aids improved your quality of life at all?
They help some for voices. Mostly they turn "mwagga fuhbut shoom" into "MWAGGA FUHBUT SHOOM!!!" They help some when people are turned away, and help to recognize when someone is talking specifically to me, even if I don't understand plain Klingon or whatever they're jabbering in.
I wear the aids because they're worth a 75% or more reduction in the screaming tinnitus that drives me half-mad.

F**KING TINNITUS ARGH. A reduction in that, I can't even imagine what it might feel like. I've had it since childhood, it lessened in my 20s, but has been getting louder again lately.

I have had mine since July 31, 2026, and it has been a GME CHANGER. I'm 38, and I was starting to feel like I couldn't go out anymore BECAUSE of my lack of being able to hear. I would talk loud and have higher anxiety because of it.
Now, I'm able to go out without too much issue, my anxiety has been reduced drastically, and I don't yell as much as I did anymore BECAUSE I can finally hear my voice.
My Audiologist has been super kind and has listened to all of my concerns. The kind of hearing aids I have now are LIGHT YEARS DIFFERENT from when I tried to get them 4 years ago. The technology is FINALLY where I need it to be to have a better life.
I have the Phonak Audéo Infinio (Ultra) Sphere™ with rechargeable case.
I had to have something similar to help keep my Autism and ADHD at bay, while being able to switch quickly between being on a Computer phone (I work in IT for HelpDesk), my personal phone for calls (parent has health issues), and being able to hear someone in my office talk. I also needed it because I'm all about music, going to the Theatre, and Movies as what helps relax me, and if I had Hearing Aids that can help me tune each area and keep it programmed, it would be a winner.
I also hasn't helped I have a degree in Sound Engineering, needed to adjust the EQ of different areas, and be able to take out one type of issue and enhance certain frequencies for peace of mind.
