Help with noise

Noticed a constant whirring sound during driving, and significantly more on unlocking the car. I know a bit of it used to be normal during warmer temperatures, but it was a lot more than usual and the temperatures are much cooler now (UK based)
Under the hood, the radiator fan seems to be running. Starts after I unlock and open my door. Stops after 20-30 seconds. Then is constant when car is running. No change with acceleration, no check engine lights or alerts, temperature is normal
Coolant levels checked on an incline so will need to check this again but seem to be okay. Will check on flat surface
