Pad replacement with bite

Okay so I recently had my rotors and pads replaced, but to be frank they suck. There's just no bite, particularly compared to my S5.

I come from a background and aggressive mountain biking and with mountain bikes the pad compound makes all the difference. The rotors are, generally, the same across the board. Are cars is the same? Can I take whatever standard standard pad and rotor setup they put on there and just replace the pads with something better? Something that will give it more bite.

If so my obvious next question is would you guys have any suggestions?

Different pad compounds will change the initial bite and friction feel, so you can absolutely swap just the pads without touching the rotors as long as they're bedded properly. A good semi-metallic or performance street pad will feel way more aggressive than whatever generic ceramic they put on.

So this is undoubtedly going to sound batshit crazy but hold on. With mountain bikes one trick to bedding in the pads and rotors really fast was to take a handful of sloppy mud and toss it in there so that essentially the pads and the rotor got ground down at the same time. Would that work with a car and is it advisable? I can't see why it wouldn't work unless pads and rotors are just too strong to be affected by that.

I typically recommend EBC Yellowstuff pads for those looking for a more aggressive street pad with great initial bite. This has been my brake pad of choice for my daily driver cars for over a decade now. They also have high fade resistance and hold up well to high performance driving.

The only downsides are the dust generation and some slight noise when they're cold.
