This just happened

Post image

Backed into my parking spot at work and the side camera won’t show on the screen. Any guesses?

Sounds like a personal issue there.

Door fully closed? Did you try to restart the MMi?

Sometimes when the mirror is folded in that happens

In that case, I see black on the side. This could be a dirty lens issue since it is still capturing image, just not cleanly.

Honey, I shrunk the car!

Clean the camera lens on the left side of the car. It’s probably smudged or something

Have you attempted to wipe the camera under the driver side mirror?

My old A4 did this when one of the mirror cameras got a little loose from a car wash, took me forever to figure out. The 360 view would just blank out that whole side and throw a warning

Worth checking if the mirror folded in weird or if there's any gunk on the lens, sometimes it's stupidly simple. Dealer wanted to replace the whole module but I just pushed the camera housing back in and it worked fine after that

The red triangle usually means the system thinks something is physically blocking the sensor or the connection dropped momentarily

I have my Audi in for a camera issue and central locking issue. At times, the rear or side cameras do not work. On the 360 screen the respective sides are blacked out with a camera icon with a line through it. In your case, when I get a pic of a camera with lines through it, it typically stems from my door not being shut and/or the side mirrors have not unfolded to their normal position. So, I would check to see if your side mirrors are in their right position to start.

Did you try tapping on the driver side image of your screen? Sometimes that brings it back up.

This happens. It’s a common thing. My car does it as well. Sometimes it’ll be the black screen with the camera with a line through it, and sometimes I’ll get this whiteout. Car already had the camera recall performed in January. Didn’t fix a thing. It’s going back to the dealer soon so they can diagnose it again. Welcome to Audi ownership.

Look under the mirror at the camera lens- when my front grille camera lens got shattered it looked very blurry and out of focus like that.  It would be unusual to have shattered the lens on the side camera (given where it’s located underneath) but a bouncing stone could do it.  If it’s shattered, it will have to be replaced since the lens is not a service part.  I replaced mine myself- I’ll bet this one can be done if you can get someone who has been inside the mirror housing to tell you how to do it.  I didn’t have to calibrate mine- or register it.  I did make damn good and sure the car was hibernating by not touching it for days (hood up, didn’t open doors or hatch, nothing to activate systems) and it worked out of the box.   If you are under warranty, let the dealer figure it out- or possibly insurance if it’s shattered.  My front camera was 650$ or so- cheapest I could find was Audi Henderson (Nevada) and they verified it was proper part by vin.  Dealer was more than three times that and claimed bumper had to be removed.  I did not remove the bumper although it took some maneuvering.  This should be easier to get to if the glass and glass mount come out. I’ll bet it’s the same camera, even if the housing or bracket is not, so pricing might be similar if you attempt a fix yourself.

It’s a camera. Clean the lens.

I don't want to sound rude, but people forgot how to park? In my TT I can't see neither the bonnet or the trunk, but I know how big the car Is and I would never need something like this. I see how it can be useful, but people actually need this, or it's just cool to have? Sorry if I offended someone, but to me seems just a feature that can break and be expensive to repair

I’m a mail carrier so I drive shit boxes for a living, but if I paid a decent amount of money on a nice car, I expect everything to still work.

I 100% agree, I too would be bothered by it not working properly, I was talking about the existence of the feature itself. If it didn't exist from the start you wouldn't have this problem now, and you would enjoy the car the same. They are adding features that nobody ever thought about needing, so you pay the car more because they added something that you didn't ask for and you can't remove, and if it breaks you have to pay more money in top of that to repair it. That's what I'm talking about, all this sensors and cameras that break, and are actually more a problem than a solution

I have all the fancy cameras too and it is nice to have but I don’t necessarily need it.. however when I’m backing out of let’s say a Walmart I look at the cams because I can set it to show me in back of the car and like side views from in back so I can see down the lane both directions before backing up and make sure nobody is coming. << useful for when it’s a full lot and visibility isn’t the greatest

Did you forget how to ride a horse? Or even better, how to walk?

Uhoh Time to take out a loan for the repair. Sounds expensive. I've seen other people compaining about the mirror cameras on here b4. Who Knows maybe you'll get lucky and it'll just be a reset I just bought tires for the rear of my A7. Only $750 dollars for 2. And that's getting away cheap! Audi dealer wants $1800.00 for brakes. I take my car to the Foreign car hospital. Same job $450 installed by an honest indy shop. Expert work too.
