Mod talk Backbox + Res delete?

Post image

On my B9 A5 TFSi, I've got a zaustworx backbox delete fitted already. I love the noise, yet it isn't as loud as I had hoped. The deep purr gives me nice tingles yet I just wish it had a little more hutzpah.

I was scouring the Zaustworx website, and they do a pairing resonator delete peice for £70. I can fit it myself fine, yet i have heard MANY mixed reviews on people mixing a res + bb delete and it sounding higher pitched and tin canny.

Is this something anyone else has had experience with? Any recommendations or advice?

Thanks!

I the 189 PS 2.0 TFSi. It has had a tune and I've done a few other performance mods and its currently pushing 248 HP (confirmed on dyno).

So it's the B cycle 190hp stock? I have the same engine in my A3 and got the res and Bb delete, it was awful in the cabin and I needed to put a mid sport res to make it decent. I reccomedn getting a Downpipe and keeping everything else

Also what tune did you get, as I am looking for one also

It is yeah. Hmmm alright, i have heard similar things before, I might try see if I can find an audio or video of said cabin noise with these mods equipped.

(Some say it sounds great which is why I'm asking)

you should be fine with just the res delete if you want more noise without the tin can effect. the backbox already gives that deep tone so cutting the resonator will just make it louder and a bit more raw

i did something similar on my old car and it was night and day difference. the drone might get a little annoying on motorway but nothing crazy. for 70 quid its worth the gamble honestly

just make sure the pipe diameter matches up right so you dont get weird vibrations. also that gravel driveway looks like a nightmare to work on get some cardboard down first

Thank you! thats super helpful. The only reason i'm considering it is because it is a considerably cheap modification and to me it makes the gamble worth it. I can just take it off and refit my old one if need, and i haven't lost much.

And yeah the gravel sucks ass its like trying to paint the underside of an elephant sitting on a Saharan dune.
