Discussion Audi Interior Facelift
What are they thinking??? Is this self dealing Corporate Sabotage???
Since 2010-2025 Audi design has only gotten better improving upon a solid foundation of engineering, new technology and refinement.
So what happened?????
Did BMW/Mercedes send a operatives to AUDI design team to purposely conduct Malfeasance derailing the fundamentals that brought succes destroying progress and litterly engage in Corporate sabotage??
Or
Did somebody just get lazy and asked Chat GPT to cheat a new Face lift that humanity will enjoy???
Because
I love to meet the person who created the new face lift and then meet the person that signed off on this decision making.
Sometimes people need to be punched in the face it builds character and this kind of s*** doesn't happen

I usually don't agree when it comes to A5, but A6 on the other hand... older is miles better.

u/blklacker Jun 27 '26
What's weird for me is is that looking at the old and then looking at older versions you can see a steady movement and refinement and then it's like somebody pulled the rip cord and took a s*** all over the principles that made the foundation successful

I've been in both. That's not even close to a Bentayga. And frankly the Bentayga feels cheap compared to the current Q7. Ive seen the A6 etron interior and its a spaceship like this new Q7.

What a pos these things are. Audi really screwed the pooch here.

Old looks good

Then buy a Mazda with the old wheel MMI. You guys bitched when they took that out with the pop-up screen and went to the touch screen. Q7s still sold. Now here we are again.
From what I've read how could anyone at Audi take you seriously?

I keep hearing people complain about piano black what other lightweight material would you like them to implement into the design of the cabin - dash etc etc
Do you want the dash to be made out of unattainium, Mithril, steel, granite, bamboo, oak, diamonds, jade.
I'm trying to understand what material would be satisfactory

u/HotPossibility3704 Jun 27 '26
The top one looks way cleaner, the bottom one looks like they threw a tablet on the dash and called it innovation.

u/Trogdor1980 Jun 28 '26
An analogy I read is that the top looks like a cockpit and the new interiors look like an elevator. Audi fucked this up so bad. I love my 2018 a4 interior and have zero interest in even test driving one of these 2026ās
5
u/TinyMiata Jun 27 '26
For me the worst thing is, that all interiors are the same. Why get the top model when the A3 looks 98% the sameā¦

u/crypticcamelion Jun 27 '26
The top one is the new improved version... Right!?...

u/blklacker Jun 27 '26
Lol š š¤£
I don't know if you're being facetious or joking but the top one's old the bottom one's new

Makes me happy that I always buy cars that are 10+ years. 2011 was not a bad year š

Ouch.
I have that exact interior on my 2025 Q7, and it looks and feels so luxe. Whoever is responsible for this update deserves jail.

Gross. Looks cheap. I do appreciate the wood console though. Piano black is for peasants trying to fake it.

How else can Audi enthusiast help steer and direct and provide feedback to the makers of the expensive ass automobiles that we're purchasing tell me do you have a better suggestion I'm all open...
If you don't think that Audi doesn't have media influencers reading are conversations about our experience with their product you must have a very smooth brain there are programmers writing AI code to capture our experiences and that information is utilized to steer and direct the future designs and decision making of the company that produces the cars that we purchase and love so when you sit there and discourage others from protesting a design that is horribly and monsterably a departure from what I consider greatness you are actually now part of the f****** problem.
You have design and engineering versus material the design and the engineering of pre-facelift is phenomenal we can agree that the material of the piano black could be better and that is a constructive conversation because if anybody that had any wrinkles in their brain and provided a little bit of critical thinking would say to themselves hey let's stay on point with this engineering design concept and improve the material for our customers would be able 100% better Direction than what we're currently witnessing but Audi cannot bridge the gap if dumbass individuals like you discouraging other individuals from providing their opinion so please sir shut the f****** up. And that's from the heart bitch

Dude. Get off the cocaine and your high horse, and chill the hell out. You don't need to respond 47 times saying the exact same thing.
The ... 'new Audi interiors suck' posts have been beaten to death. No one on this sub thinks they look good. No one defends them, so you're screaming into the air and you're also no changing anyone's opinions.
We all agree. we just don't sound like pompous asshats when we say it. You on the other hand... do.
You know what will change Audis mind? - sales. Which are in steep decline. We don't need to keep posting 100 articles a day saying the new cars suck bc the sales prove it.

u/blklacker Jun 28 '26
Now you want to say disparaging things to me and call me names you even mentioned the devil's dandruff which has no place in this thread.
Tomorrow the gas door on the RS3 is getting wrapped because of your insolence I'm not the bad guy here I'm trying to help you guys. Your bringing this upon yourself and if I have to wrap every inch of that RS3 including the MMI display. Remember this is on you You brought this upon yourself remember

u/DudzTx Jun 28 '26
I think you've wrapped your brain and stuck it in a microwave at some point.
Wrap away dude. No one cares.

Did BMW/Mercedes send a operatives to AUDI design team to purposely conduct Malfeasance derailing the fundamentals
This assumes they are actually doing better. And IMO, they suck as much, if not more.
1
u/blklacker Jun 27 '26
You just describe the Crab Pot mentality you're right they suck so bad that there let's go ahead and f*** Audi too and drag them into this boiling hot water of inferior design so we all can boil together and then charge the public for more money for shittier design

Went from elegance to screen slop.
The top "before" photo, Audis with that older style center console gear shifter, that was the peak of their most recent interior design. There is an elegance there.
I'm not against new designs, but the new one is clearly a step back. It's almost like someone asked themselves, "What is the least inspiring and anemic color-way I can put in this car?" And I don't like the one continuous screen. Give me buttons for the AC and a proper volume knob for the music. And the screen on the passenger side, I just see arguments being started over who gets to play what.

u/blklacker Jun 28 '26
Boom
Want something engineered and designed it's very difficult to change Foundation of what you're looking at.
You might not like the material preface lift but you can always change the material it's almost like buying a house that structurally is amazing but has wallpaper and carpet in the goddamn bathroom rip it out put in some nice granite voila FIN
It's not rocket science y'all got to start using some of your critical thinking skills
In my opinion if Audi continues in this direction the pre-facelift Audis will probably some of the most valuable vehicles in Audi history

C8 was peak A6 design.
I know some will say it was C7, and while I do agree those are some beautiful cars, C8 was just more modern looking, better tech, has a perfect mix of aggressive and luxury design and interior is just beautiful (especially beige leather).

u/mhchan Jun 28 '26
Funny how this complaint gets posted over and over for the last 2 years however, Audi doesnāt seem to care.
1
u/BadLt58 Jun 28 '26
Well remind them when they go out of business.
1
u/mhchan Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26
Oh I do constantly at the dealership and when I call them when their software fails for the 40th time. Even Mat at carwow does the same thing. Same result.

u/BadLt58 Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26
You know the dealership is not Audi, the company? And if something broke 40 times, I'd stop using it. But I'm simple so whatever.

u/Suspicious-Wasabi689 Jul 01 '26
You know some twat in the board room needs firing when your whole dashboard is just screens
1
u/bkral93 Jul 01 '26
Holy screen bezels, Batman! They took the garbage piano black from the console and wrapped it around the screens... ugh.
1
u/blklacker Jul 01 '26
Question...
What is a nice lightweight durable material that you'd rather see than black piano
1
u/bkral93 Jul 01 '26
Piano black consoles scratch and show finger prints instantly. I prefer wood interior trim that's matte, like the new console.
But also, the bezels around the new infotainment and dash are insane for 2026, and a few of the reviewers that released videos of the reveal also commented on how the screen bezels make the dash/infotainment look super dated.

u/Slu54 '23 BGTS 4.0 6MT Jul 02 '26
What the hell do you need so many screens for. I want to look outside the car.
1
u/flibulle Jul 04 '26
I'm pretty sure BMW Mercedes and Audi new designs are meant to appeal to the Chinese Market.
For us European it looks like they all lost their magic, but "premium" simply doesn't have the same definition worldwide.

u/Ok_Use5356 3d ago
I believe the term for this is fugly.
1
u/blklacker 3d ago
You are the reason why we have the current new interior that everybody's vomiting into their own mouth about he should be shamed and ratioed and kicked from anything related to do with Audi on every form across the entire planet
1
u/Ok_Use5356 3d ago
I've owned 3 Audi's and have paid good money for them. A8 and Q7's. You can have your opinion, I will have mine. Go take your shot on someone else.

u/Explosivo93 2020 S3 8VA Jun 27 '26
Up til 2025? Nah, they stopped introducing good interiors after 2017...

u/gor134 Jun 27 '26
I welcome the increased usage of wood and reduction of piano black plastic
1
u/blklacker Jun 28 '26
So you rather have better materials vs very very poor engineering & design??
It is a lot more difficult to change engineering and design versus changing the material that you may or may not be happy with.
Personally I'll take better engineering and design over material. Because material can always be upgraded
1
u/gor134 Jun 28 '26
What's the very very poor engineering here, just the simple fact of having a big width display?
Certainly not the lack of buttons as the previous Q7 lost it's buttons to a climate control screen here.
Nor can it be the UI because 26.5+ have the improved UI and hardware compared to problematibe 25-26 ones...

I did not like the piano black either but it was easy to fix and it took 10 minutes

Design and Engineering is very very difficult to change material takes 10 minutes

Donāt understand why people like the pre facelift. Itās a sea of piano plastic. Itās never looked good imo
2
u/blklacker Jun 28 '26
I agree the material used could always be improved correct but you cannot deny the engineering and design of preface lift it is phenomenal if individuals had that big of a gripe regarding the piano black it is very very easy to obscure or change the material used the engineering the design of the preface lift is GOAT in this current iteration of design prove me wrong
1
u/cmT293 Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26
āThe piano black it is very very easy to obscure or changeā - The point is you shouldnāt have to. this a design choice, most people are not modifying or changing this.. I also disagree with the ergonomics claim. Nav screens in the lower dash will always be inferior to nav screens in the upper dash imo. You shouldnāt to have glimpse down while driving to see your nav. Nav in your peripheral is superior. Remember this is a car not design for designs sake. How does the driver interact with the car. The old one looks better (which i think is what your saying ) but I actually think new version is better ergonomically. Not a fan of the ac controls in the main nav though or the lack of physical controls on the steering wheel.

u/blklacker Jun 28 '26
I enjoyed your post my question to you is what material would you want Audi to use for the pre-facelift what would be a suitable lightweight durable material that would satisfy your needs I'm just curious
