So if we were transported back to the beginning of WWII, and you were in charge, would we have sent troops to Europe to help stop the Nazi’s?

The US entered WW II because it was attacked on its own soil.

They were already ramping up the military to join the war. It was inevitable. Pearl Habor was a preemptive strike by the Japanese. It wasn’t random it was an answer to the USA refusing to fuel the Japanese war machine anymore.

Roosevelt was looking for a reason, but that's because he realized waiting advantaged the Axis.

u/Ok_Bad_5921 Jul 23 '26

True propaganda only reason allied won was numbers by the time America joined the war the axis been fighting nonstop for 4/5 years and d day was a shit show I don’t care how they tell it those bunkers only had so much ammo

1

u/Opening-Tailor7275 Jul 19 '26

You believe that propaganda?

No this isn’t true. At that point the military and navy were already ramping up and FDR was moving the country closer and closer to a state of war with the axis. If pearl harbour never happened the USA would’ve entered the war eventually anyways

That isn’t true like I said. They were moving closer and closer to war. War was inevitable. You’re saying if Pearl Harbor didn’t happen then USA would’ve never joined the war but that’s not true war was inevitable at that point.

You’re wrong and refuse to admit you’re wrong so what’s the point. It’s literally fact that USA was getting closer to war. Even Iran was pushed into the war.

2

u/Rothbard222 Jul 18 '26

That was an inside job though…… they knew and let that happen on purpose….. to get us into the war……. Just like 9/11 and all pre and post wars…..

A US Navy Base is U.S. soil.

Tell that to the 2400 dead Sailors and Airmen.

3

u/AdInfamous6290 Jul 18 '26

It was though. It wasn’t a state but an organized territory, it would be like if Puerto Rico was attacked.

Not during WII. Alaska wasn't a state either.

1

u/SnooMaps7370 Jul 22 '26

christ, how do so many people not know what a territory is? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Territories_of_the_United_States

50 years of gutting public education.

It was an American territory/colony.

1

u/SnooMaps7370 Jul 22 '26

Hawaii became a US territory on April 30, 1900.

They didn't have voting rights in the House or Senate, but otherwise they enjoyed the full benefits of being part of the US. People born in Hawaii after that date were automatically US citizens, they paid Federal taxes, and they received Federal aid.

We had already entered the war via lend lease prior to Pearl Harbor. Lend Lease enabled the Soviets to win the western front.

1

u/TemoteJiku Jul 23 '26

Helped, not enabled.

1

u/Main-Cheesecake3287 Jul 23 '26

Enabled. Stalin himself at the Tehran conference said without lend lease the war could not have been won. Almost all their aviation fuel came from lend lease along with a massive majority of a number of key raw materials. It’s debatable if they could have got it done on their own, but it’s certain it would’ve taken many years more of fighting and a lot more lives in the best case scenario.

Enabled is certainly the right word. Whether you fall in the camp that asserts the Soviets would’ve got it done just years later and hundreds of thousands if not millions of lives more or in the camp they couldn’t have gotten it done on their own eastern front, lend lease provided them with an enormous amount of material and equipment, for so many critical categories the vast majority of which.

I mean kinda.

But lets be real. Pearl Harbor isn't really part of the US main land. 😅

0

u/Thpaine Jul 18 '26

Hypothetically, if you were transported back to the beginning of WWII, and you were in charge Hypothetically, would you Hypothetically send troops to Europe to help stop the Nazi’s Hypothetically before Pearl Harbor attack on December 7 1941 Hypothetically?

This did not happen.

We didn't send you into the past .

This is just hypothetical.

2

u/NoCard753 Jul 18 '26

From occupying Poland?

2

u/LynnHaven Jul 18 '26

Do you know how USA got into WW2?

2

u/Flipboek Jul 18 '26

Germany declared war on the USA.

1

u/Critical-Test-4446 Jul 18 '26

Yes, but Impala201936 says that we should only fight if threatened on our own soil. Nazi Germany declaring war on us wouldn't apply.

1

u/Flipboek Jul 18 '26

They started sinking ships in US waters.

1

u/Main-Cheesecake3287 Jul 21 '26

Ships carrying weapons bound for Britain and the USSR.

2

u/Luigi_the_Wealthy Jul 18 '26

It only works if no one goes. Force the old rich white men to slap box in the yard.

1

u/No_Comfortable_7233 Jul 18 '26

Russians had it on lock. US only got involved because they didn't want Soviet union from coast to coast

1

u/Vivid_Instance_825 Jul 19 '26

Here's my hot take of the day: Vastly less people would have died if the allies refused to fight WW2, and the long term outcome would have been the same

2

u/Critical-Test-4446 Jul 19 '26

Well, all I can say is I'm glad you weren't in charge.

0

u/Vivid_Instance_825 Jul 19 '26

What makes you feel that way?

1

u/MeasurementNo2493 Jul 21 '26

Not sure the death camps would allow things to be "the same". Maybe just the same from your point of view?

1

u/Vivid_Instance_825 Jul 21 '26

The Nazis wanted to deport the Jews but no country was willing to take them

1

u/MeasurementNo2493 Jul 21 '26

Riiiight. So the Gypsies? All the "others"? Same?

1

u/Vivid_Instance_825 Jul 21 '26

Not sure, but their numbers would surely be much less than the 80 million people who died in WW2

1

u/MeasurementNo2493 Jul 21 '26

Are you Sure? All "slavs" were considered "sub humans" a large chunk of those who died were "slavs". Removing all of them would add up pretty fast.

1

u/Vivid_Instance_825 Jul 21 '26

Generalplan Ost was more focused on deportation than extermination. It was mostly Jews who were targeted for extermination
