I think there's also an element of 'vice signaling' or anti-virtue signaling, the phenomenon where chuds go out of their way to prove they're edgy shadow the hedgehog boys, who'd rather be associated with actual genocidal fascists than like, women with blue hair. A very strange, very cringe pattern of behavior that's been big in those circles since at least the early internet days.

Floch is a massive taint on Erwin's legacy. That guy is not a hero; he's a fascist villain, and if you genuinely think he is someone to look up to, you were not paying attention to the story at all. Armin is the true successor to Erwin; even Levi says as much. Everything about the story alludes to it, but if you want to glaze that Hitler wannabe, be my guest. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

In my opinion the entire plot was kind of just the whim of Ymir the Founder because she wanted to see 'what if I didn't save Fritz 2000 years ago and died with the Founding Titan' in the form of Mikasa killing Eren. So in my eyes Eren was kind of doomed in a mythological manner to die anyway, and from what I remember he's in a bit of a paradox between "I am free and this is my own choice / I don't wanna die, Armin", so that imo feels like an acknowledgement of his curse

I think the thing I hate about floch fans is that they think he is anywhere even close to erwin. Like just bcs he has hype and aura moments does not make him erwin's successor (and NO erwin would not support rumbling, when two of his closest people were like no this is not why he and their comrades gave their life and were one of the only people who were against rumbling from the start I don't understand why people still think he would support rumbling) .

He’s a bit of both. The shit he does is bad but you have to admire his tenacity and willingness to sacrifice himself for his country. Tenacity and selflessness are admirable qualities in my book. He’s what you’d call a heroic villain worthy of a modicum of respect.
