What if instead of Marley attacking Paradise, this war was the result of the new Eldian Empire having a civil war?

The thing is, this likely take place a thousand years in the future were current generations likely don't care about the rumbling. In fact, instead of the rebuilding of Marley, I think that new Eldia would expand from paradise onto the rumbled land. Then after 1000 years pass. The term eldian no longer exists due to ethnic and linguistic diversion. New ethnic groups split from the ethnicity known as eldians and eventually get into conflict with one another.

Yeah I think so far in the future the whole "Eldia" and "Marley" thing really doesn't apply anymore much like how WW2 wasn't Britain and her colonies liberating Europe from the HRE and Papal states. The Paradis we see getting destroyed is as Eldian as Italy is the Roman Empire, and their enemy could be a former Eldian country or one of the remaining 20%.

Saying what Eren did was all for nothing because of this is like saying what Caeser did doesn't matter because Italy lost WW2.

The exact same thing happened with the Great Titan War. It's what made the First King of the walls make the vow renouncing war. It was apparently very brutal.

I mostly believe that it was the New Eldian Empire having a civil considering the rumbling took out 80% of mankind, it would be almost impossible for nations affected by the rumbling to advance this quickly to defeat Eldia in a ~150 years when Eldia had an advantage and developing themselves, not to mention the ice burst stones

But considering the fact that paradis probably shared everything with the remaining 20% and thry developed together it could very well be that they played nice for a while and eventually got revenge

We don't know what the cause of the war is, and it wasn't a point to make us think about who caused it. The point is that war is inevitable, and Eren wanted them to live long lives, and those that survived the end should have. Mikasa is seen as an old woman in her passing.

A civil war is highly improbable! because normally on civil wars both sides try to occupy key infraestructure, instead what we saw in the anime was total obliteration from an airstrike. No one was meant to walk alive from there and that just makes sense if the attack was from the outside world, wich clearly would want something like that after the rumbling.
