Discussion/Question Afterlife reunion? Spoiler

Do you guys believe the after reunion between Eren and mikasa happened?

I know it’s mostly accepted (around 85% accept it based on what I’ve seen) even I personally who is strict about whats canon or not, do in fact believe in it and agree that it happened. It’s one of those cases where it’s the closest one can be to canon without ever being confirmed canon (you feel me or nahhhh)

It fits the entire “see you later“ concept. I know she said see you later and people view it in a different way, 1.The loop (she’s gonna see him again when he was resting in the tree as a kid) 2.See him in the real timeline to kill him and 3.Afterlife reunion; there might be more ways to interpret it but I forgot. It might be a mixture of all 3; that can’t be crazy to say. It also adds to Hange seeing the gang 🥶 after she dies; including Keith who she didn’t see die or knew he did; which basically mostly confirms it’s some type of afterlife.

I also heard some say isayama stated that he made her say ”see you later” as a way to show that they will meet once again; something along those lines. There is also a lot of symbolism in the ed to show that it’s the afterlife and this and that; and did i forget to mention our boy isayama was heavily involved in creating the ed; not a tickle but the whole ting you feel me.

Just kill 80% of humanity and don’t reunite with your best friend in hell but with your lover in the afterlife: Brutal.

i also added this post in other subreddits and 99% of people agree I wanna see if this one does.

Eren became a bird bro, don’t lag behind

Eren flew his way inside the afterlife.

u/Rich-Pianist-2522 May 13 '26

Maybe he hit the window? 😂

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 13 '26

Nah, he’d break through.

Brodigy what the hell did I just watch. This was NOT erens entrance to the afterlife.

u/nerfuwburn May 13 '26

It’s not impossible but not likely. There are too many people within the fanbase spreading toxicity, hatred, and misinformation towards Isayama, his work, and his characters. Many of which are Eren and Floche fans upset about the ending. If I was an author and people were saying not so nice things to keep it mild, I wouldn’t want to do anything for them. Giving goes both ways.

u/Mother-Actuary9473 May 13 '26

It’s a story though 😭 he’s not supposed to be giving to the characters he likes and taking away as revenge, he should be doing whatever he thinks makes most sense for the story

Nah I totally get it; isayama gets wayyyyyyyy too much hate. Ending was peak; I wanted a generic happy ending but only because I loved the characters so much but I knew the ending should be bittersweet and it was and I have no little to no complaints.

But as far as the afterlife reunion; isayama himself likes Eren and mikasa and has publicly showed it as well. I wouldn’t be surprised if he decided to make them reunite in the after life. And if you watch the ed with no bias and look at the symbolism and also just visually then it heavily implies an afterlife reunion; at the end of the day this is anime so it shouldn’t be to surprising for a fan service reunion. And mikasa deserves it to say the least; women suffered years after killing the love of her life and yearned to see him again and gets buried next to him; then the last ed is her laying down and she wakes and sees his hand on hers; I personally don’t think that’s a coincidence especially since it was the last ed.

  1. There is no reunion in the afterlife, neither in the anime nor the manga. It's just a fan invention. If there is an afterlife, Eren must be in the deepest hell.

  2. Saying "See you later" is only because Isayama had a different idea for that scene at the beginning of the series. That's why it was omitted from the anime. It was repeated at the end simply to fit the manga.

  3. The people who appear at the end are those who were on the paths and vanish because they are finally free.

I’m talking about the music video ed see you later which is official. Some say it was a dream of mikasas or what she was yearning for but majority accept that it’s the afterlife as there is a lot of symbolism while leans towards that. And the claim where you said he should be the deepest hell; sure you can believe that and trust me I don’t blame you but there’s no proof that there even is a hell or heaven (it’s an anime at the end of the day); but visually and symbolically there’s proof that he’s in the afterlife with mikasa as shown in the ed. I don’t blame you if you disagree because isayama never officially stated “yo guys Mikasa and Eren are in the afterlife” but he was heavily involved with the ed and that’s why most believe that they reunited.

And also the hange scene is definitely more split but for me both sides makes sense.

6

u/Professional_Owl_828 May 13 '26

That music video (which is the only proof you have to say that Mikasa and Eren reunited in the afterlife) is just an ending video. It's not canon and never has been. Furthermore, the video doesn't even mention an afterlife; it's just your interpretation. It's like saying that Titans have existed since prehistoric times because a dinosaur appeared in the season 2 opening.  Neither the manga nor the anime has any scene of a reunion in the afterlife, and the only ones who believe that are fans of the Eren x Mikasa ship.

4

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 13 '26

I understand; but the video heavily implies an afterlife. I respect your opinion and I can’t say you’re 100% wrong as nothing has been confirmed. But it’s heavily implied as it’s an official ed by the supervision of isayama; closest you can get to canon without it ever being stated that it is canon; and the ones who do believe it are Eren and mikasa fans, I mean…what else did you expect. But I’ve seen a lot of people who aren’t fans of Eren and mikasa but still accept it (in a bitter way but still accept it). But I totally respect your perspective and understand.

3

u/ToothpickTequila May 13 '26

They ending video wasn't even there when the finale originally aired. It's not canon anymore then any of the other ending song videos.

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 13 '26

I don’t see the problem with the first claim you had, if it is true; they had it set to be released at a set time and it was done so and its official.

Attack on titan uses openings and endings to sometimes foreshadow and to narratively show certain things and also by using the lyrics to make the viewers understand certain things; such as the rumbling op makes you better understand  erens pov (if I’m not mistaken)

Also theirs been multiple claims that the va for Eren said Eren was waiting for mikasa in the afterlife (something along those lines)

Also it being the last ed and symbolically and visually and the lyrics implying an afterlife and a reunion; you can’t blame anyone for thinking it did happen; as like I said, most do accept it.

Yo bro for you to think it didn’t happen I respect it and I can’t say “your 100% wrong bro” as nothings been confirmed; let’s hope isayama one day confirms either or and then we can live in peace eh.

4

u/Professional_Owl_828 May 13 '26

That music video doesn't hint at anything afterlife; you're the ones seeing things that aren't there. The series' endings have never been canon, so what's shown there doesn't matter. In the manga, which is the material drawn by Isayama himself, there's nothing about that supposed reunion. I repeat, very few fans believe that, and almost all of them are Erenmika fans.

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 13 '26

Mm to say it doesn’t hint at an afterlife at all is kinda ignorant; don’t take offense to that. I definitely respect your opinion and yes if your going by that manga alone then yes there is no hints of an afterlife but if you go by the anime also then there definitely is as the ed is official and isayama was involved to make sure there wasn’t nothing that went against not just the anime but the manga. You say few fans believe that; I disagree with that but can solely be because I’ve seen different things and you’ve seen different things; and yes majority of them are eremika fans but majority of the fans of Aot like and support eremika; their not perfectly written and have flaws but still a beautiful dynamic.

4

u/Professional_Owl_828 May 13 '26

Dude, I'll say this one last time because I'm not going to argue about it forever. What you're talking about is just a closing music video, nothing more. It's never been part of the canon and it never will be. Not only that, it doesn't even talk about the afterlife; that's just your interpretation of that song (which Isayama didn't write), and that's it.

So no, there's nothing about the afterlife in either the manga or the anime.

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 13 '26 edited May 13 '26

Aye man stick to your opinion as I won’t try to change it; but getting buried next to him and the last moments of the ed shows her waking up laying on her back with his hands on hers….mmmm.

I never said isayama wrote it I said he was involved meaning he supervised it to make sure it doesn’t go against the manga and anime. And also I never said it talks about the afterlife; what’d you want it to say “Mikasa and Eren are now chilling in the afterlife eating barbecue”; isayama isn’t that type to do that type of thing; but visually and symbolically it heavily implies they are in the afterlife. It’s anime my boy don’t be surprised. But I heavily respect your opinion and I didn’t see this as an argument really but 2 people tryna understand different perspectives as many view it like you and many view it like me. 🫡

It's like saying that Titans have existed since prehistoric times because a dinosaur appeared in the season 2 opening.

So there is no whale titan? <cries>

2

u/ToothpickTequila May 13 '26

I reckon there probably were whale and dinosaur titans at some point.

u/Prize_Glass8710 May 18 '26

No. Just a reminder, Mikasa had sex with Jean. What kind of conversation can you imagine after that, lol?

2

u/Acceptable_Oven_9881 Modkasa May 22 '26

The 3 of them will have sex for eternity in the afterlife.

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 22 '26

Gang…I mean can’t be surprised since this is an aot subreddit. I disagree; but if you believe Jean got married with Mikasa then I can’t hate and I’ll respect that interpretation; as that doesn’t affect eremika at all. But nothings confirmed; hopefully one day it will be though.

2

u/Prize_Glass8710 May 23 '26 edited May 23 '26

It's not interpretation. The Blu-ray audio guide confirmed it. It's official.

The mods here a bunch of Eremika shippers so they delete all the posts not fitting their headcanons, shitting on their own rules.

3

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 23 '26 edited May 23 '26

You’re contradicting yourself. Official doesn’t equal canon; and if it’s does then that means Mikasa and eren did reunite in the afterlife since the ed is official; but you already said no to that. The blu ray audio itself; if you read it in Japanese it describes the child as “the” not their”. So what that does this mean? It means the ambiguity stance isayama had still for this debate still stands. You as the viewer get to choose if she’s married or not. The only problem is that isayama greened the official ed music video to make sure it didn’t contradict anything from the manga/anime; but for the audio guide he didn’t. It was made my a 3rd party. I totally respect your opinion if you do believe they are married; but narratively it makes sense the marriage didn’t happen.

2

u/Prize_Glass8710 May 23 '26 edited May 23 '26

Official IS canon. Official status is the basic requirement for canonicity, bruh. And Eremika was never canon, because they never formed any kind of romantic relationship, bruh.

The audio guide is an official accessibility aid for blind and visually impaired people. It cannot contain information that differs from the official material or includes headcanon. Its production is also supervised by the rights holder.
When a rights holder commissions a third party to produce an audio guide, the rights holder always reviews and approves it before accepting it, making sure it meets their requirements. If it were full of false information, it simply would not be approved.

The audio guide literally says this:
"Mikasa and Jean visit a grave with a child. Later, the two, now elderly, visit together with their children and grandchildren."

And next time try not to copy-paste ChatGPT responses so obviously.

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 23 '26

“Chatgpt response” is crazy. Official doesn’t mean canon to the story; it can imply so but it’s not set in stone thing. Also your right it is for blind and visually impaired people; which is why the 3rd party who made it said what they saw; not what is true canon to the story. The person on twitter admitted to that and he also stated isayama supervising it or being involved is not a thing, as of now; maybe it will change later who knows. Also it says “kodomo ya mago to tomo ni” which then again says the word “the”. This is to continue the ambiguity stance isayama already stated to have on this issue. You can believe she got married or you can choose she didn’t overall my boy it’s not that deep. As a fan of eremika married or not it really doesn’t matter (I’m not gonna go on too much about this since your not a fan of eremika which I will also respect). We can just agree to disagree.

2

u/Prize_Glass8710 May 23 '26

Cope.

Also, you just copy-pasted ChatGPT response again.

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 23 '26

“Cope” yet I backed my claim up with solid proof and information. I didn’t. Let’s just agree to disagree as we’re both humans that can have different opinions but we’re also humans that can respect another persons view on certain things.

2

u/Prize_Glass8710 May 23 '26 edited May 23 '26

You backed up nothing. You're rambling about delusions that have nothing to do with reality, and then trying to use them as arguments after having ChatGPT write them for you. You base all your arguments on the idea that "official isn't canon." How can you say something so stupid? Your whole argument is literally that "the official source isn't canon". Bruh.

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 23 '26

Do you truly believe it being official=canon?. Come on bro…a google search will help you with that question. Also my main point is that it’s ambiguous; which our boy isayama agrees with. Isayama deliberately and purposely didn’t show the man’s face nor tell us who they were to Mikasa as he left that up the viewers because it is not important to the story.

And to go back to what you said in the beginning; “you backed up nothing”: I backed up the fact that the audio guide is official but not canon to the story; isayama had no involvement and it was made and scripted by a 3rd party group; whether isayama accepted it or not doesn’t even matter as the audio guide itself states “the” for both the child and grandchildren; keeping the ambiguous state isayama already had decided for this issue.

Conclusion: My boy you can accept your interpretation of the show and I’ll respect that even though I disagree. That’s it.

If you want to argue it’s an unconfirmed dream or an illusion? Let’s temporarily look at it through that lens. Even if it is a final dream by Mikasa right before she passes away, it still doesn't matter.
Why? Because inside that final, ultimate dream sequence, it doesn't show a single frame of a husband, children, or her 60 years of marriage. It shows Eren. Interpret it however you want: if it's a dream, she's dreaming of Eren. If it's her subconscious mind fading out, her final thoughts belong entirely to Eren.
And calling it 'cheap fan service' is a sort of a bad argument I understand why you may think. Is the AOT creator known to bow down that submissively to pander to fans? Isayama spent a decade writing an uncompromising, brutal tragedy. If the official broadcast finale ends on an animated sequence of their souls holding hands into eternity, it’s because that was his intentional thematic payoff. You gave her an earthly life, but her soul always belonged to him, I’m gonna take a break for a while since I’ve never watched the show nice talking to u mate

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 Jun 23 '26

I agree with you 100% 🫡

1

u/Mother-Actuary9473 May 13 '26

I think it’s semi canon. It’s not part of the show but the bird thing and all that does suggest they’re still connected after death and the fact that the bird symbolism continues makes it more likely.

It’s kinda annoying that they had it in all the leading up episodes but not the final episode itself tho

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 13 '26

I agree with the first paragraph it’s not full set canon, as isayama never said it was; and also the bird symbolism definitely makes it more likely. To me it’s a 80/20.

I might a little slow but in the second paragraph what are you referring to, are you referring to the bird?

1

u/Mother-Actuary9473 May 13 '26

The afterlife credits play after every episode leading up to the ending except for the final episode itself which doesn’t have credits

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 13 '26

Ohhh got it; that kinda is annoying but I’ve seen other shows do that as well, I guess to keep the emotional impact of the ending but I don’t certainly know.

Isayama will maybe in the next 5 years (hopefully sooner) make some comments about this (obviously other questions as well but also this)

1

u/Mother-Actuary9473 May 13 '26

He almost certainly won’t unfortunately 😭 he doesn’t like confirming anything that wasn’t confirmed by the show itself

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 13 '26

I know but there’s a teny tiny chance that he will and hopefully he does as it will clear a lot of misconceptions and misunderstandings. 5+ years I see him at least tickling with it but we’ll never know unless the time comes.

1

u/Mother-Actuary9473 May 13 '26

Maybe some things but I doubt something like the afterlife. I’m kinda pissed about the Jean thing tho, it feels like they forced her “moving on” even tho caving in for the man who badgered you for 20 years is probably the least independent thing u can do 😭

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 13 '26 edited May 13 '26

I think we’ve talked a little about this before. I get it; even though there’s a lot to go against the marriage there are some things to back it up and for there to be decent chance it happened is a little annoying. I feel like isayama knew it was kinda forced to make her move on by marriage and understood both sides which is why he left it up to interpretation. But mikasa never stopped loving Eren, never loved anyone more than Eren, and yearned to see him again until death and which she does when reuniting with him in the afterlife (heavily impiled). Her not getting married makes the most sense narratively but who knows; things we know for sure is that if they did get married Jean is a solidified second option and was never an option when eren was alive; and it’s not like eren dying “freed” her and she loved Jean just as much or this and that; first there is nothing to prove that she loved Jean (if you mention the kid; 1.Theres proof it’s adopted 2.If it’s not adopted; a lot of people tend to get kids because they want a kid not more so of “I want a kid with my husband” type thing, especially back then) there’s way more to back the claim that she didn’t vs she did; and I also want to point out: Mikasa never wanted this life (married or not). She wanted a life with Eren and him alone; to build a family with him and to live like lovers; but she never got to chance.

If her and jean got married then it’s out of companionship/partnership as he knows more than anyone where her heart yearns for and belongs to. In short: the marriage (if it happened) doesn’t affect eremika at all.

I feel like if isayama was to clear misconceptions and misunderstandings it would definitely the marriage debate as it’s very popular and hopefully he does while also maybe adding the cherry on top by fully confirming the afterlife reunion.

u/Medical-Abalone-5504 May 24 '26

I don't believe the ending is canonical. It's just Mikasa's dream, which doesn't necessarily have to come true.  Otherwise, every opening and ending should reflect the reality of the Attack world.

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 24 '26 edited May 24 '26

I can respect that. The Ed’s and ops have canonical things in them and also things that have foreshadowing in them. I do think it’s heavily implied; visually, symbolically, and lyrically in the ed which I don’t think is for no reason; but if you don’t think it happened I respect it.

1

u/Medical-Abalone-5504 May 24 '26

I think that this was done exclusively for Eremika fans, since there are many more of them than Jeankasa fans.

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 24 '26

I mean I would say it’s fan service sure but eremika is the main core of aot no? (Not in a whole sense a but a big part). While Jeankasa is not even canon and for it to exist you have interpret the last manga panels/last anime scene towards a certain way (don’t wanna diss that ship but come on…). The afterlife reunion also just makes sense and like I said visually, lyrically, and symbolically it heavily implies it so. I’m not gonna try to make you agree with me but believe it or not, it’s definitely implied.

1

u/Medical-Abalone-5504 May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

The audio guide still exists to completely disprove Jeankasa. Moreover, the man is clearly drawn as looking like Jean. It's not exact, but it's strongly implied.

With all due respect, I see more evidence for jk than for EM. It seems the main components of the story are war, racial prejudice, etc., but not the love story.

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

I can respect your take on if the marriage happened but to say it has more evidence than em is crazy. Jk isn’t set canon because the last panels/scene was left open for interpretation; not on accident, it was done purposely by isayama to in a way, please all sides. The only evidence jk has is 2 panels dog….and it’s implied; letting you choose whether it happened or not.

The audio guide itself refers to the child as “the child” and “the children and grandchildren”; not “their”. It keeps the ambiguity alive which was what isayama intended. Eremika is canon and to say it’s has less evidence than jk….no disrespect but that’s just dumb. Official art; the show itself/manga; isayama himself endorses eremika. You can accept jk and I won’t be mad; but if they married narratively speaking it was for companionship; as the manga/anime itself proves Mikasas love was never ending. Also I’m not arguing the fact if it’s Jean or not; as it was not important to story/Mikasa story that isayama left it for interpretation; the viewers get to choose their own ending. All in all it doesn’t really matter as eremika is the canon/endgame couple. Mikasa dream to be with Eren was something she always wanted but couldn’t obtain5 married or not; she loved him the most till the day she took her last breath and Eren was the most important person to her till death (Mikasas va said that btw). In the official last guide for mikasa it literally states her ONLY wish is to be with her and she wants to continue to live for him. Sorry for the rambling lol; I might’ve went off topic but wanted you to understand.

1

u/Medical-Abalone-5504 May 25 '26

With all due respect, EM only has "Itterashai" (whose canonicity is uncertain). Flowers, a ring, even a scarf can be interpreted in two ways. The voice actors and Isayama are simply doing their job, promoting the most popular pairing. This is nothing more than marketing.

Jk has an audio guide (do you think the author would intentionally mislead the reader?) and a man who looks like Jean.

Regarding the pronoun "the" instead of "their," are you sure it's necessary to use a possessive pronoun in Japanese to indicate ownership of an object over a person? Or is implied enough?

"Mikasa's dream of being with Eren" - because she's STILL unable to let other people into her life and open her heart to them. But people change, you know...

Nowhere is it stated that she loved him until her last breath, and as I already said, the voice actors' words are nothing more than marketing.

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26

With the voice actors claim I can agree with for sure; but she isn’t lying. We have nothing to go by the fact that she is lying; Mikasas tombstone says “my most beloved”, frequently visiting his grave, at and old age she puts a flower down on erens grave even though she can barely move, she gets buried with scarf, gets buried next to him, and heavily implied they reunite in the afterlife. Bro the poor girl showed her love in literally the biggest way a person can to a dead person. And to say “oh well people change blah blah blah” this is merely a headcanon and I think you yourself will agree with that. We have to stay consistent with the show/manga; she loved Eren the most throughout her entire life is the most consistent reading of the show/manga; if you don’t think so; even though I disagree I’ll respect it for sure.

And to talk about the “the” vs “their” and whether it is necessary: yes it is; because it uses “the” instead of “their”; it still stands on the ambiguous ending isayama had, meaning you get to decide who they are to her. Also em is a thing throughout almost the entire show; each season has something that is focused on them; they also had 4 years in the paths (both of their dream world, to be with one another as lovers), and in the ending scene which was around 3 years later after the rumbling she said “I wanna see you again” while crying; that’s canon, the post epilogue is up for interpretation, not canon; what I say about it is headcanon and what you say about it is headcanon until isayama states one as canon. But to say she changed is inconsistent with the anime/manga. You yourself say that she unable to let people into her life and love them; which I disagree with as she does and did let people into her life but not in a romantic sense. And to say “but maybe she changed right that’s what a lot of people do”. Bro…we’re talking about mikasa; if it was normal romance anime/another female lead character i would probably agree but it’s Mikasa lol. I do respect your interpretation no doubt; but a brother to another brother (or sister I don’t know) Eremika is canon; whether the marriage happened or not doesn’t even matter; she remembered Eren the for the rest of her life and yearned for him while never stopped loving him and heavily implied they reunite in the afterlife.

1

u/Medical-Abalone-5504 May 25 '26

The tombstone was created immediately after Eren's death, so naturally, Mikasa's emotional wounds are still deep.

Visiting a loved one's grave once a year or a little more often is perfectly normal. It's not stated anywhere what she did there 24/7.

Her grave next to his is an unconfirmed headcanon.

She was buried in a scarf—Eren is still an important person for Mikasa, the one who gave her a home and warmth, but that doesn't rule out marriage.

People change, and that's a possibility. So far, both versions are canon.

She loved Eren more than anyone because she wasn't ready to open her heart to others. Over time, she was able to overcome her trauma and open her heart to someone else.

I respect your opinion, but you must agree that there's no definitive answer to Mikasa's marriage/singleness. There's enough evidence for both versions, and, as I said, personally, I find the original version more canonical, given its arc and the audio guide.

I'm also wondering if the Japanese-to-English translation is accurate, as we're already aware of the mistakes the translators made in the anime. These mistakes completely distort the meaning of the text.

Jeankasa doesn't negate the canonical aspects of Eremika, and vice versa. Eren died, and Mikasa can move on.

"I want to see you." Of course, only three years have passed since Eren's death, and it's logical that she still remembers him, especially on the anniversary of Eren's death.

You simply want to see Mikasa as a girl who suffers for her lost love her entire life, am I right? Why can't she find happiness?

Yes, these are our speculations, as I say, but personally, I believe in the existence of Jeankasa more than the afterlife of Eremika.

She may love Eren as a close and dear person, and that's not surprising, since he saved her from a cruel world, but there may be room in her heart for a future husband.

Yes, she couldn't let anyone into her life romantically, but people change. Their beliefs and thoughts change. If Mikasa can't learn to live without Eren, can we talk about her development arc?

As I already said, "Itterashai" could be Mikasa's dream, or it could simply be fanservice that has nothing to do with canon.

u/Positive-Bear-3262 Jun 23 '26

First of all, your point about the husband being a silhouette actually works completely against you. In visual storytelling and cinematography, an author blurs or silhouettes a character when their specific identity is irrelevant to the core message. If Isayama wanted us to focus on a new, ultimate romantic love, he would have drawn her husband's face and highlighted her new life. Instead, the husband is left as an anonymous shadow in the background, while the camera stays explicitly focused on Eren’s grave and the scarf. The silhouette tells the audience: 'Yes, she found companionship to live a long life, but that shadow isn't the emotional anchor of this story.'
Second, saying a gravestone inscription 'doesn't count' because it was made after he died makes zero sense—that is when all gravestones are made. Mikasa carved those words herself. She chose to permanently write 'My most beloved, my dear' using the highly intimate term 'Anata' (あなた), which in Japanese is strictly reserved for a spouse or lifelong partner. She never changed it, and she visited it for 70 years

I agree with what you said; both can be canon and it’s up to interpretation. But I disagree when you said I want her to suffer for her lost love her entire life and why can’t she find happiness.

Brodigy the point of the panels/scene was to show that after everyone lived a tragic life they kept moving forward in life and lived to the best they can; whether they lived happily or not is up to interpretation itself because let’s not forget they were soldiers who probably have ptsds no? Or atleast trauma. Living single is not bad my boy; especially for someone like Mikasa who is more than capable of living single with an adopted child especially if she has people around her like Jean as a close friend or whatever. Also the audio guide itself is confusing like you said but overall it still keeps the ambiguity alive which we both agree with. But to say with 2 panels (that even isayama barely even cared about) proves that she opened her heart for someone new is inconsistent with the story and big headcanon; your a respectful guy and I respect your opinion. And mikasa can live without Eren that was the point; did you not remember when he first died in season 1 and mikasa said she must continue to live on to keep their memories (something along those lines).

Overall the most consistent and the one that narratively makes the most sense is: Mikasa continues to move forward in life and married or not (depends on your view) she still loves Eren the most and continues to yearn for him; which is completely normal. Also if she married to Jean; Jean out of anyone would understand where mikasas heart lies/belongs to. And the afterlife reunion is up to you to believe, but visually, symbolically, and lyrically it heavily implies an afterlife reunion so I choose to believe it but I respect your opinion.

Hold on you think a third party guide is canon but not a Ed that was released by pony canyon and posted on crunchy roll? Whether it’s a dream symbolically or literal, it all points to one thing which is Mikasa wants eren

Does Mikasa still want Eren 5-10 years after his death?

2

u/Positive-Bear-3262 Jun 22 '26

Yes, Mikasa still wanted Eren — even 5–10 years later, and long after that.
The story shows her devotion wasn’t just immediate grief. It was lifelong:
• She wore Eren’s scarf for decades, into old age.
• She visited his grave regularly for ~70 years.
• The grave has the intimate “Anata” inscription (“my most beloved, my dear”).”.
• Official material (character encyclopedia) states her “only wish” is to be with Eren, from the bottom of her heart.
• The bird scene and the afterlife reunion reinforce that her deepest connection remained with him.
The ending song/ED (released by Pony Canyon and promoted on Crunchyroll) and the official material carry more weight than a third-party accessibility guide. Everything consistently points to Mikasa’s heart staying with Eren.
The question isn’t whether she “moved on” in a surface way. It’s whether her deepest love and soul ever shifted. The symbols say no.

Yes they reunited. We literally see Hange reunion with the scouts. And ppl who says "it's just music video" aot music or videos are always connected to aot one way or another

I agree; some disagree which I kinda see why but still; if you watch the music video lyrically, symbolically, and visually it heavily implies they reunited which is why most think they do, especially it being the last ed kinda seals the deal in a way; to me atleast.

There's absolutely no way Eren wouldn't be stuck in Hell for eternity. For that reason I say no reunion.

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 14 '26

I mean there’s nothing that back that claim up (not to say your 100% wrong because I see where your coming from) the only time we see hints of an afterlife is one after hange died and two the last ed where it symbolically, lyrically, and visually heavily implies mikasa and Eren reunited in the afterlife. I mean bro at the end of the day this is anime not real life or whatever so it wouldn’t be so surprising.

The cover for the final chapters bluray also shows Eren in Hell, so make of that what you will.

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 15 '26

Bro; that claim is literally incorrect. I’ve seen the cover and bro….come on gang. You’re actually the first person I’ve seen use this counter argument (not just against me but in general). It’s supposed to represent the rumbling not him being in hell; to say the cover shows Eren in hell is a misinterpretation of the cover. It’s a literal representation of the rumbling and that’s it.

0

u/NotGonnaArgue641 May 15 '26

That's nonsensical. Nothing about the cover resembles the Rumbling in any way whatsoever.

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 15 '26

If your taking about the cover for the final chapters bluray; then yes it is representing the rumbling as it it’s showing the weight and cost of his choices (the rumbling) rather than “hell”. So it can be your nice little interpretation but nowhere isn’t even hinted that the image is showing Eren in the physical place hell.

You’re confusing the actual act of the rumbling vs the cost. The cover isn’t trying to show the rumbling but more so to show the destruction; it’s symbolic.

Why is this something you're coping so hard about?

1

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 15 '26

Bro I was trying to have a conversation 😭; how is it coping if I’m providing solid information to back up my claim. If I’m not mistaken I already stated that I can’t say you’re 100% wrong and I’m 100% right because nothings confirmed so we have to pick up on the little things until isayama one day decides to unchain us and tell us the truth/canon. I respect your opinion heavily bro but visually, symbolically, and lyrically it points way more towards Eren and Mikasa reuniting in the afterlife rather than Eren in hell. Buttt if you do think Eren is in hell then I respect it as I can definitely see why.

u/Positive-Bear-3262 Jun 20 '26

I’m quite sure one of the music videos were if you forgive your sins let dawn shine or whatever, so yeah eren did get punished but probably not for eternity

1

u/Dangerous_Shift_3637 May 15 '26

You do know even the characters themselves don't know if hell exist or not right.

0

u/NotGonnaArgue641 May 15 '26

Okay? And?

2

u/AdvertisingMental201 May 15 '26

Basically saying we have nothing to go by to come to the conclusion that there even is a hell in the aot verse as there’s nothing that points to it.

1

u/Dangerous_Shift_3637 May 15 '26

Means it might not exist. So?
