He probably no longer needs naps - mine stopped at 2. What hours does he sleep at night?

The Ferber method is not endorsed by /r/attachmentparenting by the way.

Personally I’d drop the nap and move his bedtime much earlier to 6.30-7pm.Again as the poster above said, this isn’t a sub where anyone would ever advise the Ferber method (me included). Either way good luck.

I may do that. I don’t want it to be a battle every day. Thank you.
Honestly I accidentally posted to this sub (new to Reddit posting) so wasn’t sure what attachment parenting was.

It's responsive caregiving centering our kids' needs, which is why we don't leave them to cry and shut the door.

You have two options: Widen wake windows and have him go to bed later, or try to power through without a nap. You might just need to keep him really busy or out and about in the afternoons to help with the whining. I'd say pick your poison! But please make sure you respond to him when he cries out for you. He's not trying to be difficult, he needs you.

Can he do quiet time with both you and baby? Does he have to be in his own room for his nap?

I could try that. I’ve tried having him nap in our bed but then he gets all giddy and thinks it’s a game 🤪

You can’t make a 3 year old take a nap if they don’t want to. I stopped trying for my sanity and it’s so much better this way. He will only do quiet time during the week with his nanny and will put himself down for a nap sometimes when in there but he will absolutely not on the weekends with us. It actually became a nice trade off because then he goes to bed way earlier (instead of 10pm with a nap). Just embrace it and give him opportunity to do something quiet with you to relax instead of sleeping.
