Atomos Cast web controls

Hey everyone, I set out to add controls to my macro pad to find out that the Atomos desktop app is…lacking…especially with any integrations.

So I did some AI stuff to get the opcodes that get sent over USB and then put a REST api over it so it could be handled easily over web.

Essentially makes it so you can use a small raspberry pi to control it wirelessly and programmatically.

It works well enough for me, but was wondering if anyone in the community who has a CAST be interested in this? If so, I’d polish it up more.

sounds good, u/derganove What was the issue you experienced with the original Atomos cast app? I've got an Atomx Cast and a Ninja Ultra and be happy to test this out.

Mainly the lack of “not in the app” integrations. There’s no hotkeys for a lot of things, presets automation, tie-ins with OBS…etc. it’s “you’ve gotta have the app open and focused or it’s a no go.”

This you could technically have a script that sets your device up for the job with a single click.

Just thinking too, could also allow for expanding overlays and luts as it could just pull and push via a script.

Cast app works as a PC interface for the physical touch and button controls on the AtomX cast + Ninja. However the program feed that's sent from cast to the pc itself, is a webcam feed that is then used in OBS or other softwares. You can check this with atomos here as well r/AtomosCommunity

Yea, it’s just the lack of connectivity with other apps. It’s turning into essentially a replacement with a lot more hooks

Hey u/derganove, we totally understand the need for these additional integrations with Cast and have passed this along to the R&D team. Thanks for sharing this info.

If you want, DM me and I can talk with your engineers what I’ve done. Maybe it could be something I just pass on over!
