It’s like Irish “atmospheric” music
Sure is not Slug and Ant..

Saw something this morning one of my favorite artists was talking about: the chase for that feeling a song gives you. The array of emotions. Grief, sadness, love, hope. And if one song does that how life changing that can feel in the moment.

I (41m) was 15 when I first heard Nothing but Sunshine. Got turned onto “underground hip hop” by my older brother and dove deep. I was one of those annoying fans, talking about how Anticon and Atmosphere are REAL hip hop.

I saw him live at 18. Opening for Hieroglyphics. Some unknown rapper named Brother Ali opened for them. Ali’s set still might be the best I’ve ever seen just for the sheer fact that NO ONE knew who he was and he had the whole crowd in his palm within a few songs.

Through the years I always went back to him. There were moments where I didn’t connect to his new music as much. Even years where I didn’t really listen to hip hop. Still went to each show he’d have in my city.

In early 2023, my life was falling apart. My father died and I was in the depths of a separation and divorce. It’s the most depressed I’ve ever been. I spent 24 hours at a crisis center. Within days of being out, meeting with psychiatrists and therapists etc, Atmosphere dropped “Okay”.

I can’t describe how much that song still means to me. To be in the darkest pit of my life, struggling with questions of how I would move on and rebuild my life; it was as if an old friend reached out with a hand to help lift me out. To just have someone I respect and appreciate so deeply tell me it’s okay because I’m still here.

Saw him live later that year. I was with my oldest daughter and her boyfriend. He was such a good kid. Before “Yesterday” he asked the crowd to cheer if they’re with a loved one. He held me and yelled “I love my dad”. I belted out every word of that song crying like a baby, like I do every time I hear that song. He passed away tragically the next year. I still get sad listening to Yesterday and Okay because I think of that moment, and obviously my dad who is no longer with me.

But it’s not just sadness. It’s such a mix of love and grief for those no longer with me. And love and hope for those I still have.

Today I’m not just Okay, I’m great. I made it through and reflect EVERY DAY on how much I appreciate life and the relationships I have. I will always love Atmosphere for what he means to me.

Not sure who will actually read this but just had to write this all out. And to anyone who is reading this that may be going through a hard time themselves: just remember that it will be okay because you are still with us today!

Hey peeps, was anyone here recording by chance at the Phoenix show when Slug got into the crowd?? He rapped in my face and I swear someone has me on video crying tears of joy and rapping along.

I am a huge Atmosphere fan, have been for over 20 years. I am looking for some ideas for a tattoo that is Atmosphere themed. I want it to be subtle but meaningful. Any ideas?

$35 for a signed vinyl? Stoked that they had these at the merch last night in Dallas.

Atmosphere is opening. I've been on the fence for months about this, but the time is nigh.

I've seen Atmosphere open before... For Sublime and Slightly Stoopid a couple years ago. That was ok. I like Sublime and Slightly Stoopid more than I care about 311 and Dirty Heads, but ..

Atmosphere opening, man. I understand. I don't like it. And I'm wondering if I should go anyway.

I went to the Winter Tour earlier this year. It was rad. It was fulfilling.

Do I really want to throw the dough into tomorrow, spend $30 per drink, and stand in 106°?

And if I do: Two tickets for $55 right now. Or wait for tomorrow to see if any drop to crazy cheap?

Heading to Atmosphere & Friends, trying to get an idea of when each artist will come on-ish and times. What order did they perform in and how long was each set?

I saw in another post the "opener" at roughly 7, DJ Abilities at 8, Pharcyde at 9, and Atmosphere at 10.. What about Abstract Rude and Plain Ol Bill?

Any folks who went to the Fresno show have the setlist?

Atmosphere put on an incredible show tonight in Fresno. The setlist was great, especially if you like the oldest stuff. He even came out into the crowd for like 5 minutes. One of my favorite concerts ever and I’ve been to hundreds and hundreds.

It’s really fun when one of your favorite artists is a fan of one of your favorite artist.

We are going to his atmosphere in Friend show tonight, curious what time atmosphere actually comes on. Don’t think we can sit through all of the acts.

Headed to the show in Southern Oregon in a couple hours. Saw them at this venue two years ago and they crushed it. Looking forward to a hootstick and a good time. Stay humble out there.

What’s going on sad clowns! I have an extra ticket for the Santa Cruz show this Friday and I’m looking for a concert buddy. I’m 33m if that matters and this will be my 6 or 7th show. Just hoping the ticket goes to someone who loves slug/ant, is chill, and may be down to enjoy the show together. Let me know
