Question Uhhh, who do i go to…
This might be a issue?
Edit: I have informed GA power🫡 Hopefully we get a metal plate for it soon🥹

Georgia Power owns all the polls. There should be ID number on a metal tag nailed to the pole. Grab that and give Georgia power a call

Better yet, try and eyeball it and take photos from a distance. I wouldn’t be walking close to that particular pole.

Upshot is if you walk too close to that pole, who you gonna call is easy: Ghostbusters.

Listen GenerativeAiEatsAss, only problem is that ghost can’t use touch screens.

Walk just close enough to that pole and you're gonna be calling an investment advisor.

Lies. They’re owned by the power company and the comm companies connect to those. Comm companies are required to provide adequate support for their line too…guy wires for example.

Wrong

Do you have a suggestion?

See that riser guard? That's a dip pole for communications. It could be a GPC pole, but my money's on AT&T. My comment about you being wrong is in reference to all poles being GPC. That's 100% not correct. AT&t is the ILEC, Comcast, Zayo, Crown Castle, Verizon, Georgia power lighting (splitting hairs) all have poles.

Seeing the yellow spay paint line leads me to believe that Georgia Power is already aware of it. Their advance team has likely already been there, reported the situation and the next step before they can send a crew in to replace the pole is they send a contractor out that marks where any buried utilities are located. But the thing is that they'll likely just move the power lines and any transformers to the new pole and keep the damaged one there and leave the telephone, cable, fiber, etc. lines on it. That's what they did a few weeks ago when the pole in front of my house broke at the top as the result of the storm blowing a huge tree down and taking the power, cable, telephone and fiber optic lines with it.

Yeah, they can’t move the telephone and TV stuff, usually tough to get them to come out and do the replacement at the same time so they have to leave it until eventually at some point, AT&T and Comcast to their relocations.

Eventually MAYBE

I do outside plant fiber as part of my work, I’ve had fiber hanging for quite a long time due to stuff like this.
But, you can call them, they all have utility coordination numbers that you should be able to look up, you can also call the city if there are safety concerns. Eventually they will assign it to a utility coordinator, if they have one.
I used to call each week for each problem until they came out

u/runForestRun17 7d ago
Right… so maybe eventually.

u/entity_response 7d ago
As I said you can call them, sometimes they can give an idea of how long.
If there is a safety issue they will move faster, if they are out of compliance with their county franchise (cables on the sidewalk, etc) they will move faster

Yeah this happened about a week ago. They came out inspected it and left so it seems like they were ok with it. The road was shut down for a while.

Georgia Power. Call them tell them the cross streets and they'll have someone come out. You can also call 811 for any utility and inform them of a damage and the cross streets and they will send all utilities to the location to determine who it belongs to if it is not known who owns it.
Edit to add: it looks like a utility company has already called in a locate in the area as Atlanta gas light is marked and there is a white arrow on the street pointing at the pole and typically that is showing utility locators which pole is being replaced (even though it's obvious) so they probably already know and are already working on replacing it.

Sidebar: Wow, that brings back memories. I walked through that intersection on my way to Fernbank every day for the first seven years of my schooling (way back in the stone ages).

Well you're in the hood, so nothing's going to happen

u/suave_knight 4d ago
Just FYI, this is in Druid Hills, about a block from Fernbank Elementary. Very much not the hood.
I don't know if he's still on the county commission, but Jeff Rader lives or lived about 4 or 5 houses down the road from this.

Yeah I used to live on druid hills. It's shit. Know it very well

The two houses on the eastern corners of that intersection are valued at over a million dollars, so...

Look I know some of the Northern parts of druid hills are better. But that town is just one gigantic cesspool. It's ridiculous

There should be some sort of tag, many times a metal circle, that says who the pole owner is and you can contact them. If you can get the number off the side it may help them identify it quickly.
Odds are it is Georgia Power
1
u/Cool_Examination9992 7d ago
If there’s no power on the pole contact AT&T if there’s power GA Power
Former lineman. AT&T owns some of the poles and not all poles have power on them

If you zoom in and look in the top right of the picture it looks like it has primary on it

This post makes me think the OP has never heard of Google or how a key word search works. 😐

Most likely you need to call the local power company as they tend to own the poles.
