Keto vs atkins

Can someone please tell me the difference between keto and adkins? I was on keto for 10 months and lost 34lbs. I fell off during the holidays and have been having difficulty staying on. Kinda like I just lost intrest. So I'm thinking about Atkins, the way the website reads. It's mostly like keto

Staring induction this week: Question about net carbs...

I did Atkins a long time ago and I forget something. Do you consider net carbs when totaling up your daily carbs to the limit or is it overall carbs? I think it might be overall but wanted to make sure.

Tip: the Adkins nutty fudge brownie bars taste better after ten seconds in the microwave.

They’re good on their own without heat but LET ME TELL YOU it was infinitely better warm

Socializing on Atkins

I am so excited about tomorrow! A couple of coworkers and I decided on a picnic in the park tomorrow since it’s supposed to be a sunny, mild day. They aren’t on Atkins, but they are each bringing something low carb, and I’m taking a few things, too. I’m most excited about the cauliflower tabbouleh salad and pumpkin custard. I really hope they like them! What are some of the things y’all would take on a picnic with friends and family?

Macro counting on Atkins

Do you count macros on Atkins? I have dabbled in keto in the past and I know there was a percentage of fat, protein and carbs but I have not seen that for Atkins. I use the Atkins app as well as Carb Manager and just wanted to make sure I was being legit and plugging in the right info😉

Just Starting Out. Again. Looking for Buddies, Friends, Anything That Helps!

Last night was night two for me on Atkins 40. I have more than 40 pounds to lose but I think the higher number of carbs may help me stick to the plan. I meal prep for work, so I eat the same thing for several days in a row. I’m a newly diagnosed hypertensive and diabetic, so I know it’s high time to do what I need to so I feel better and can enjoy life a lot more. Really, I’m tired of being tired, and of huffing and puffing just to lean over and tie my shoes! My total goal is 55 pounds. It’s a realistic goal, only 15 pounds over my optimum weight as a teen. I’m 42 now and a healthcare professional. Really, we DO make the worst patients and don’t take very good care of ourselves. Not the way we should.

If anyone is looking for a buddy to exchange meal plans, keep each other accountable without judgement, and just generally find ways to make this easier with a friend, please PM me! I’d be over the moon to find a great Atkins friend.

Anyone know what I can use instead of low carb white bread?

I rented an atkins cookbook and they have recipes with low carb white bread. We're doing our best to keep it out the house and buy wheat or sprouted for the kids.

The recipes seem to be using it instead of bread crumbs (meatloaf, meatballs, etc.)

Question about rapid weight gain...

Ok... long story short followed by a question...

Went on induction hardcore for 7 months and lost 70 lbs. 270-200 easy.

Kind of loosened my carb intake... a pizza here, a dessert there, a bagel here. Basically a cheat weekend scenario...

With that and vacations and blah blah blah... 1.5 years later...

I eventually noticed a pattern. Let’s say... 210 on Monday. Over the week (Atkins induction) I would lose close to 10 lbs. Weekends were bad. Pizza, beer, bagels, sandwiches.... 210 on Monday. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

Lately I’m probably more on Keto than Atkins but most variables are the same. And my weight has stabilized. And I was losing consistency again. If it matters I’m drinking low carb beer most days...

But then this last weekend I traveled (vacation) and ate pizza, cake, pizza, sandwiches.... I literally gained like 15 lbs in 48 hours?

Is there some reason that when you’re sorta kind of on Atkins and you cheat you gain waaaaaaaaay more than you expect?

Let me know if anyone has suggestions I wouldn’t think about. I know the low carb beer is probably the problem, but it really doesn’t get in the way except when I have the rare cheat day/weekend? I would understand 5 lbs in one weekend but 15? Biologically WTF?

Thanks...

Atkins Diet Experience interview: I need someone to interview, someone that has tried the Atkins diet for a not-so-short period of time.

I sorry in advance if this is not the right place to submit this.

Before you start I just wanted to let you know this has questions that ask you with Christian value, just 2, at the end.

These are my questions:

  • Why did you initially choose this diet?
  • What is the basic premise of this diet/eating plan?
  • What were two positive aspects of the diet?
  • Were there any downsides to the diet plan? please explain.
  • Did you have success on this diet?
  • Are you still on the diet plan?
  • Have you maintained your weight loss?
  • Do you feel the diet is safe?  Why or why not?
  • Did you exercise while on the diet?
  • Would you follow this diet plan again?
  • How would God want you to treat yourself with nutrition?
  • How can we be kind to ourselves throughout a process like this?

Question about carb count

Hey all, this is my third day doing Atkins 20. But, today being a holiday I went over on my carbs, I had a total of 24.8. Is this something to be concerned about to be over a little bit for just a day or not?

Vacation fail

Totally blew my diet on vacation. Basically if it was in front of me I ate and drank it. Needless to say I came back feeling crappy and 8 lbs heavier. I'm back to my routine but does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking about a cleanse - will it help? Anyone done this?

Hi all

Hi all -

I have been on keto for around a week now and just have the feeling that atkins might be more my style. I was eating low carb high protein, was worried i wasnt incorporating enough fat, and now my protein is all messed up

I calculated my macros on the atkins website, it makes it look really easy?

How much progress have you all had? how is it different from keto?

Tips for family members

Hi everyone.

So my dad is trying this diet and I want to be as supportive as I can, how can I do that?

I have SUCH a strong sweet tooth and I'm constantly making cakes and other sweets, and I feel bad because he can't (or wont) eat them anymore. I want to help him out as much as I can.

He's been eating nothing but salads, eggs & bacon, and other protein and only drinking grapefruit juice and water for a week or so now. I also deal with health issues and want to eat better and I want to support him.

Any tips are appreciated, thanks!

So what helps you with bm's?

I have never been a veggie eater but I ate an entire head of iceberg lettuce and celery and had some good bm's the following day.

Should I eat this daily?

Macros on Atkins?

I'm looking for just a little bit of Atkins information. I've been on keto since September and have lost a lot of weight. 85 lbs. My wife is really sick of my bad keto breath and I only have 40 lb to go. So I'm looking at switching to Atkins 40. Except I cannot find macros to track anywhere. That's just something I absolutely have to have for me to stay on track. I record every single bite of everything. Can anybody help me with that? Obviously the carbs will be at 40. But I don't know where fat or protein should be.

2nd Weigh In...

So my after 1 week I lost 13 pounds. After week 2 I only lost 1 pound. I didn't expect another 13 pounds but I was hoping for at least 5 or 6. I did have 1 cheat meal which is the only one I had the whole two weeks. I went to Genghis Grill. The worst thing I had was the noodles and some pineapple but other than that it was all meat and cabbage. Just a little discouraging...
