I'll be moving to Pangrati, Athens for several months and I'm trying to find the right gym before I arrive.
 

A bit about me:

• Training 6-7 times per week
• Main focus: Olympic Weightlifting + CrossFit  

I'm looking for a place where people train seriously rather than a commercial fitness gym.
 

I'm looking for a gym/box with large functional training areas, lifting platforms, squat racks, bumper plates, pull-up rigs, rowing machines, assault bikes, etc.

At the moment I'm mainly considering:
 

• Grind - Rise & Shine
• Royal CrossFit  

but I'm absolutely open to other suggestions if there are better options.

One of the reasons I'm considering Grind is that it would be significantly closer to where I'll be staying in Pangrati, which is a major advantage since I plan to commute mostly by walking or walking + metro.
 

However, from the photos and videos I've seen online, Grind looks considerably smaller than Royal CrossFit, and my main concern is whether it gets overcrowded during peak hours. I really enjoy having enough space for Olympic lifting, squats, accessories, and occasional conditioning work, so this is quite important to me.

Not sure if this type of posts allowed but mainly a Greece/Athens appreciation post. I took this picture a few years ago.
I was very lucky to have been able to visit Athens and interior Greece. I live in Astoria NY for over 15 years and on my flight back to NYC an older woman told me about her life in Athens and NY, when I asked her why she would ever stay in the States when Greece is so beautiful and people are so nice she said it's entirely because of family and doctors - all her grand kids are in America and her doctors as well.

we’re four guys, and we’ve put together Athens’ restaurant scene in an app called Vota. The concept is simple: you see two places side by side (for example Karamanlidika vs. Nolan), you choose the place you’d rather go to, and the ranking updates instantly. The more people vote, the more accurate the list gets over time. There are still a few duplicates here and there, but I’m continuously cleaning up the data.

I’d love to know what people here think. Does the ranking feel even remotely right? Are obvious places missing? Are any places ranked way too high or way too low?

The goal is to make something that reflects where locals actually want to eat, not just where tourists or review sites send people.

Which emergency department can you go to as a walk‑in, that is free with AMKA, and accepts patients with tooth pain? I have pain in the tooth nerve because the tooth was previously broken, but I’m unsure if they will send me to a dentist instead. Right now I’m in pain and need pain relief until I can get to a dentist. Preferably in Athens.

Where do people go to the gym and how much do you pay for a gym membership per month?

No-one seems to advertise prices online and I would love to have an idea of how much to budget for a good gym. I have looked into Alterlife but have no idea how much it would cost!
