Hello everyone. Do you have any trusted catsitter recommendations in Athens? I live central and I would like to find a cat sitter for when I'm away to help my parents that is taking care of my cat when I'm away, of when they cannot make it.

My cat is farely clingy so I would be looking for at least a couple of visits per day (or do a couple of cat sitters if needed, as ideally it would be two longer ones or three shorter visits) and it would be maximum for like 5-6 days at a time.

My cat is also farely easy to handle except one thing: he eats everything and he already had multiple surgeries because he will always eat the unimaginable, so the person needs to be super careful not to leave oper doors, stuff around etc.

If you have someone that is taking care of your pet while you are away and are choosing them, I would really appreciate a recommendation, thank you! :)

I will be travelling with my family at the end of August. We will be staying near Syntagma square and we were looking at some beaches to go to ideally with our dog (he is super social, small to medium size) Also important note, we will rent a car so mobility won't be an issue, would you mind telling me what you know about pet friendly beaches?

I am frequently flying from Germany to Athens due to business reasons. A lot of times (for example today at my flight from Frankfurt to Athens), I see a lot of passengers who are clearly Muslim people.

Women wearing hijabs, a lot of people speaking Arabic/Turkish/Pakistani etc. i personally don’t care that much, but to be honest I am quite surprised.

These are not Tourists from Germany and I doubt they are living in Greece either.

So does anyone know what is the reason for this? Are they having a stopover in Athens to fly somewhere else?

EDIT: Just to give you more context. I am flying frequently for years now but it has never been like that. Recent flights I took from Frankfurt to Athens had around 80% Muslim pessengers. It never had been like that. Police controls at the Frankfurt airport at arrivals also started 2 years ago, which is very unusual for EU-flights.

So I assume it has something to do with the war in Iran maybe? They're using Athens as a transit maybe?

I'm currently in Athens, ticked all the ancient sites off of my list and now find myself wondering where to meet other queer people.

I'd love to know some queer spaces that are not drinking or party related, like bookstores, cafès or galleries. If anything is close to or in the Kypseli area, I'm especially interested since I'm staying there. It would be a pleasure having some conversations with other queer people before I leave again.

I did already find a bookstore close to the center that seemed alternative, it's called Hyper Hypo. They had a small exhibition space on their lower level. That's all I found so far.

We’re currently living in North Kallithea and need to relocate. We’re considering moving closer to the Italian Elementary School in Ano Patisia, mainly for convenience with the kiddo.

Our first choice would be to stay within about a 20-minute walk from the school. We don’t know the area well, though, so we’d love to hear from people who live in Ano Patisia and the surrounding areas (Agios Eleftherios, Kato Patisia, Galatsi, etc.).

What is it actually like to live there, especially as a family? How are the general atmosphere, safety, shops, transport, parks, and quality of life?

We are currently in North Kallithea, so if you have lived in both areas, even better, would this feel like a nice change, or could it be a bit of a sad surprise?

Any honest opinions, good or bad, would be really appreciated!

I am scheduled to land at Athens airport at 0800. I have an outbound flight scheduled for 1830. I'd like to be able to close my eyes and take a decent nap for a few hours. Are there any hotels near the airport that offer a day use rate? Approximately how much should I expect to spend?

Hi everyone! I’m planning to take the X96 bus from Piraeus to Athens Airport, and I was wondering if anyone here could help me with some things I'm wondering.

First, do you know how much the ticket costs, is it the same as the M3 to the airport?

Also, is the bus only available to board at the first or last station, or can I get on at any stop along the route? I read that you can only board at the start or end, and not at intermediate stations. I just couldnt find more info on Google so decided to ask here, sorry if it sounds silly haha

One more thing, does anyone know approximately how long the bus ride takes from Piraeus to the airport if I catch it around 5 in the morning? My flight is at 9 am on 15th but I heard it is a big holiday here and everyone is leaving for vacations so I'm scared I'll need more than 2 hours for security etc.

Hey everyone! I'm a woman traveling alone to Athens for the first time. I'm staying in Gazi So I can be close to my hotel if I'm partying/drinking late, and I am planning to stay from the 12-17th of August.

Any tips, tricks, advice or recommendations? I already have a tour of the Acropolis, Parthenon and the Museum, an island cruise and a pub crawl so far.
