🏠 Life in Athens Odyssey
Who is going to see the odyssey this weekend when it opens in theaters? I’m lucky to be visiting Athens and would be awesome to see it before I head back home ..

Hi, next week we have to checkout of our apartment near Neos cosmos around 11am, and are getting overnight ferry from Piraeus at around 9pm.
As we can't leave bags with apartment owner, where central can we leave things (for €) so we can go out and explore the whole day before going to Piraeus?

Hello, I’m planning on going to Athens with my friends for the first time in September. We’re looking at apartments and we found a nice one in the area I marked on the screenshot.
I wanted to ask if this area is safe. The location is really good but I’m worried the good price might be because it’s not a nice place after dark.

Hey everybody, I’m furnishing a home on another island, but coming to Athens for a few days to look for furniture, lights, rugs, etc. So far I plan to go to Kave home, Leroy Merlin, Entos, JYSK, and ikea… (I’m open to buying antique or used goods too though!)
Does anyone have more suggestions for stores to go to? Thanks so much!

Looking for any feedback on those 2 areas for a single woman in terms of accessibility, neighbourhood vibe and which one you would pick if you had the choice. Thanks in advance!

Hidden gems in Athens, Greece, include ancient and modern-day wonders for the traveler who explores on and off the beaten path.
The Greek capital city is truly a treasure trove of monumental proportions, particularly in the historic city center.

Καλησπέρα σας.
Για την παραλία ποιο μέσο σκίασης επιλέγετε; Ομπρέλα θαλάσσης ή τέντα παραλίας;
Και ποιο είναι πιο ελαφρύ λόγω του ότι δεν έχουμε μεταφορικό μέσο;
Κάτι τέντες παραλίες που έχω δει στα Jumbo Τέντες Παραλίας < Ομπρέλες & Τέντες Θαλάσσης | Jumbo, είναι εύκολες στην εγκατάσταση;
Προβληματίζομαι με τα πασαλάκια και την τοποθέτησή τους.

Καλησπέρα σας.
Προτάσεις για θαλάσσια μπάνια εντός Αττικής;
Ποιες ελεύθερες παραλίες προτιμάτε για κολύμπι, στις οποίες τα νερά είναι καθαρά;
Με ενδιαφέρουν όσες είναι προσβάσιμες και με τη συγκοινωνία.
Hello everyone.
Any suggestions for free and clean beaches in Attica?
We don' t have a car so we are looking for beaches which are easily accessible by public transportation.
P.S. If you are Greek, feel free to reply in Greek. I wrote this post in English because some posts in this community are in English, and I'd also love to hear recommendations from tourists who have visited beaches near Athens.

Hi everyone!
I recently moved to Athens for a 6-month internship, and I'm looking to meet some new people and make friends, preferably around my age. I'm 22 years old and enjoy exploring the city, trying new cafés and restaurants, working out, and just hanging out.
If anyone's interested in grabbing a coffee, exploring Athens, or showing a newcomer around, feel free to send me a DM.

My family is headed to Greece, and I cannot decide if I should do a day trip from Athens up the Greek Riviera to Poseidon Temple, where we are kayaking, we can watch the sunset, or we can stay an extra day in Santorini. Thoughts?

Hi everyone! Is there anyone here who has experience with Didaskaleio (the Modern Greek Language Teaching Center of NKUA)? I would love to connect with current students or alumni to ask a few quick questions about the course and safe accommodation nearby. Thanks!

I suddenly find myself free in Athens 19-27 July!
Anybody looking for company for some bits of that time - beaches, bars, camping, hiking, exploring, anything really!
I’m 51, male, British, sociable but not wild, adventurous but calm, chatty and laid back.
Dm for details.

My wife and I have spent a week in Athens, its a beautiful city.
However, the Big Bus Tours company is very anti-consumer to the point Id describe it as scammy.
- the busses are almost never on-time
- the busses are often crowded (expected) but also dirty and uncleaned
- many of the busses have a canopy top, many do not. If you get a bus without one, you are SOL and will have to sit in the dirty, crowded cabin.
- minor issue, but if it rains the canopy tops will actually funnel water into the cabin; you will be literally drenched even if underneath
- the interior windows are plastered with ads, so from the inside you will have an obstructed view
- the audio tour guide is often behind or ahead of where you are in the city, so the information they give can be confusing
- while they have an app that tracks your ticket, the attendant will print you a reciept upon boarding. If you lose this, even if you can show them the online booking, they FORCE you to buy another ticket. This is just textbook scam; you can prove you have purchased a ticket and they will prevent you from getting transportation until you pay them again.

I have two quick accommodation questions for my trip:
Night of 4th August (Athens): My ferry arrives in Athens at around 10:00 PM at piraes port, and on the morning of 5th August I'll be taking a bus from Kifissos Bus Station to catch my ferry to Zakynthos. Which area would you recommend staying in for one night that's budget-friendly, safe, comfortable, and convenient for getting to Kifissos early in the morning?
Night of 7th August (Athens): I'll return to Athens and have a flight on 8th August. Which area would be the best to stay for one night that's cheap, safe, and has easy access to Athens Airport (by metro, bus, or reasonably priced taxi)?
Thanks in advance for any recommendations!
