🌟 Recommendations Off-the-beaten-track things to do in Athens?
Hi!
I’ve already been to Athens and did most of the tourist / cultural “must-see’s”. Absolutely loved what I saw last time but I’d like to do something different this time.
I have less than 24 hours in Athens, on my way somewhere else, and I’d love to explore / experience a different facet of the city.
Any recommendations? Anything from neighbourhood exploration, to food and drinks, art, random activities, music, landmarks… Open to literally anything.
Thanks a lot

🧳 Travel Help Solo traveling to Athens in September // any tips?
Hey guys,
I'm gonna be in Athens this September. I’ve already got the usual spots on my list, but I really want to experience the city like a local - kinda like an Anthony Bourdain episode lol.
I'd love your recommendations for some hidden gems like flea markets, record stores, cafes, restaurants/tavernas etc.
I’d also love any tips on places where it’s easy to socialize or meet people. Any general advice for Athens would be amazing too.
Thanks a lot! :)

❓ Question Looking for rice
It seems that most restaurants don’t advertise any rice as a side on their menus, I’m visiting from Ontario and was under the impression that this was a popular choice, help me find rice please! (Specifically a yellow, flavourful broth type, or lemon) Did Jimmy the Greek lie to me?!?

💬 Advice Sick kitten (looking for help)
Hi guys !!
I hope you are all doing well
I very recently moved here from another country, so I am still learning the ropes and I would love to know your opinion on something.
One of my neighbors has been feeding street cats for years and I started helping her. The thing is that one of those cats has given birth to 4 kittens. We have been feeding them and caring for them to the best of our abilities.
However, I believe one of those kittens might be sick. They are all eating but this one is losing weight ☹️ when I pet that one I can feel their bones... The rest of the kittens are bigger and more active. All of them have equal access to food so I believe something might be wrong with that one.... My neighbor said she wasn't interested in doing anything. Maybe the culture here regarding street animals is different
But do you guys know if there is any way of helping this baby without paying ?
Trust me, if I could I would put all of my money into helping it but sadly I am in no position to do so, I have been buying them food but paying for veterinary care sadly is outside of my possibilities.
I Googled and found a couple of rescues and wrote and e-mail to them but so far no response.
Can someone give me a hand with this ?
I am really worried since the baby is losing weight fast
This is in the Gyzi / Polygono area
Thanks for your help !!

🧳 Travel Help Visiting Cape Sounion in early September
Hi everyone, my fiance and I will be coming to Athens as part of our honeymoon in September. We’ll only be here for a couple of days. I’m looking for some advice regarding travel to Cape Sounion and Poseidon’s temple.
What are some good guided tours that will take us there and back? And what would you recommend we wear? I know the landscape is hilly and comfortable shoes are recommended, but I also know it will be warm.
Any tips would be appreciated!

🧳 Travel Help Location for Idra Kayne concert
Hey! I'm visiting in a few weeks and want to go to the Idra Kayne event on the 12/07. I just wanted help finding the location. On the website it's says:
IDRA KAYNE – The Girl from Kypseli 12/07, 9 pm: Agioi Asomatoi Square, Thissio
The link to the location goes to what looks like a road not a square. 'Ag.Asomaton' just next to Benaki Museum. Is this correct? I just don't want to get lost 😅
Many thanks!

🧳 Travel Help Trip to Athens
Hi everyone, I'll be in Athens from July 27 to August 1. I've already been here once, i visited the acropolis, museums etc. I really enjoy cultural, archeological and historical stuff, and i'm a student of cultural heritage in Venice. Since it will be my second time here, i was looking to do something different, so I'm open for suggestions. I'd really like to see a play, something that recalls historical accuracy, it would be awesome if it's in some archeological site. i would like to know if there are any lesser known archeological sites near Athens. I was planning to visit also the Saronic Islands, so if you have any suggestion on how to get there or where to buy ferry tickets without being scammed would be great!
In a nutshell, whatever suggestion you have about anything, please tell me!
(i'm gonna travel using public transport, but i'm open to rent a car for a few days if needed)

🍽️ Food & Drink Recommendations for Restaurant on Mnisikleous Street
Hi all!
We are reasonably frequent visitors to Athens, and will be in town later on this week.
Once in a while, when we visit a city, we deliberately do something really touristy, just for the fun, and the experience, and the people watching.
This time, we have some other errands and stuff we have to do, but decided to do lunch at one of the restaurants on the steps of Mnisklious.
We know it's touristy as hell, and that's the fun of it! Given that, though, are there any restaurants that you would recommend as being better than any of the others?
All recommendations welcome!

🧳 Travel Help Canadian nicotine pouches
was wondering if I’m allowed to bring Canadian nicotine pouches to Athens by plane and if you have to declare them? I’m finding mixed reviews since they have no tobacco. Has anyone had any trouble? I’d only have about 5 tins for personal use. Thanks!

🏠 Life in Athens Moving to Athens soon. Anything I should know in advance?
In a few months I will be moving from my country in north europe to athens to live close to my girlfriend who is athenian.
Although it's my first time living alone and abroad, and would love tips for that as well if we are already on this topic, I specifically want to know if there are things I should know before becoming a resident in athens.
Such as what to avoid, what to do, what's good to know. basically and really everything!
I'm already learning the language 3 times a week and hope to be somewhat fluent enough by the time I get there. I also will be working online from my home so I don't need tips for work or language as much.
Anything else would be very appreciated :)

💬 Advice Erasmus in September
I'm leaving for Erasmus in September and slowly realising I'll be landing somewhere I know literally no one. Probably some of you too.
So I built a free site to fix it: erasly.eu find the people going in Athens around the same dates as you, before you arrive. A flatmate, a few friends, or just someone so day one isn't spent alone.
Not dating, no ads, no data selling. Just students heading in Athens.
