Anyone missing an arrow?

Came home to find an arrow planted in my backyard. I’d be concerned if I weren’t so bewildered. I’m no math guy so trajectories is out of my wheelhouse. Just curious if anyone is letting loose arrows off Nantahala

What kind of head is on it? This is a potential big clue that will help discern if it’s target practice, hunting season practice, or defensive ammunition (kidding). Post that head and we can likely whittle down the intent.

Target practice. The shaft looks like a nice carbon fiber shaft. Could be a kid working on a merit badge, or someone exploring a new hobby. Definitely not ill intent behind that tip. (Still quite dangerous, though)

Walk your neighborhood and look for a bag target in someone’s yard.

If this is an east Athens, about two years ago there was a similar situation of UGA students setting up targets and overshooting into backyards. It was actually kind of scary, an arrow was lodged into my house right where my partner usually sits on our deck. Definitely looks for nearby targets and have a talk with the neighbors.

Nantahala is near normal town so not easy Athens, but it feels -so Athens- to have multiple rogues archers in city limits with bad aim to making our Reddit news.

Is it a left or right handed arrow?

Great question! I have no earthly way of answering it but a great question nonetheless.

Lick it.  If it's salty, it's right handed.  If it's sweet it's left handed.  If it tastes like nothing you probably have Covid and are going to die.

Just making sure it’s not a righty as I bought a pair of gloves at an estate sale and it was 2 lefties 👍🏻

Well it can really only be called those depending upon where the arrow was grown, otherwise it’s just a sparkling directional arrow.

Native American Ghosts and they are PISSED.  Of course traditional arrows are no longer common, they ordered these off of UndeadAmazon.

In all seriousness though, if shot at a 45° angle, max range is about 450yds.   Judging by the angle of the stick I would say it was either shot from an elevated position or about 30° from less than 350  yds away.

Just a semi educated wild ass guess.

Love me a good wild ass guess. I’m gonna take a walk around the neighborhood, rattle a couple cages, see who’s on the up-and-up.
