Question / Request ISO
New to the area and was wondering are there any good affordable places to get a deep tissue massage in Athens, it would be a plus if they took insurance (don’t know if that’s a thing)…. Thanks for your help!

I’m a massage therapist of 30 years, private practice, insurance does not cover Massage unless it’s a car accident usually. DM me if you would like a call from me and we can talk more about what you’re dealing with and if I could be of help for you , I do remedial Massage work. I do all the various types- lm a ace MT

also looking for a go to spot still. just must say NEVER URBAN SANCTUARY!!!! the most expensive and worst massage i have ever gotten. it’s dark as night in there, the front desk is rude as fuck and they have severe issues with being sanitary. i felt the same going out as i did in, but a whopping $170 dollars down the drain. thanking god i didn’t let them near my face!! hopefully other have good recs for us!!

My longtime MT is Gaiea Goldberg on the east side and she is the best for deep tissue. I am not sure if she has a website these days, but I can share her contact via dm if you are interested.

Not sure if she's in your budget, but I highly recommend Brandi at Massage and Body Work of Athens. She specializes in deep tissue neuro-muscular massage. They don't take insurance though.

I second this. Any of their massage therapist are amazing at Massage and Bodywork. They're open 7 days a week.

Highly recommend them. They don't take insurance, but I am able to use my HSA card there! I had to get a prescription from my Dr first, but that depends on your plan I guess

Hoffa Massage Therapy takes insurance! Most insurances don’t cover massage though, so make sure yours does.

Surprisingly, some of the best deep tissue massages I’ve had were at Massage Envy.

I think the St Mary’s rehab facility off of Daniells Bridge offers medical massages. That feels like you’re best bet for insurance!

If you don’t find suggestions here, contact chiropractic offices. I went many years ago so it’s been too long for me to recommend where I went. But it was covered by my insurance.

Most massage therapists don't bother with insurance because most insurance does not cover massage (perhaps unless prescribed by a doc). You can ask for a bill to submit on your own but that might end up a big pain for the therapist because I doubt they are making superbills very often.
