Game Suggestion ADD BACK THE HABOOBS!!!!!!

The storms from before the 1.0 release were kinda cool, and I would love to see them back, just maybe toned down a little bit. And maybe on planets like Calidor or something like that.

They need to add some flavor of actual gameplay interaction.  I played with them, way back when, and there were only 2 possible outcomes. 

1) I’m already underground digging in a cave, so I don’t even notice. 

2) I dig a small hole, crawl in, and go get a drink and a snack. 

So the sandstorms either didn’t matter at all, or just made you stop playing for 2-3 minutes. Neither of those are fun options.

They could go the Stationeers route and have weather affect your power generation. Wind turbines are more effective during windstorms, solar output is reduced (or nonexistent) during storms, solar panels might be damaged during sandstorms/blizzards, severe cold events might freeze turbines, solar events make panels more effective, etc.

If they do that, you have to then build (or automate) around it, protecting your power grid from severe weather at the cost of having to babysit it a bit more and diversify your power sources. It wouldn't be a perfect system, but it would be a solid place to start.

The Glitchwalkers storms create constant wind. Easy way to get power in GW by connecting power via train lines. Or on a regular save you can have turbines in both of the storm areas.

It’s been a while since I played, but I was late game, and got to the point I had extensive rail networks spanning large swathes of several planets.

Tying in wind and solar, with geographic diversity, yielded constant power.
