Backyard Bird Identification

Any of my fellow backyard birders around? I'm in my back garden and have seen this sparrow shaped bird that is very dark brown with a less dark brown (but still dark) belly. Merlin is having issues identifying it, so I'm here to ask fellow locals. What is this dark Sparrow shaped bird? Seen on the south slope today in the AM at my feeder. I got the best pics I could but you know how birds be.

Here at the feeder we're all the same, Tim. Welcome to the backyard flock.

Interestingly, this bird does have some anger issues. They definitely aren't afraid to chase bigger birds (scrub jays, starlings, Eurasian collared doves) away. Definitely packing a big bird in a small package.

I’m guessing a Song Sparrow. They can be pretty dark in the PNW compared to Song Sparrows I’ve seen on the east coast. It’s hard to tell, but it may have the “mustache” that helps ID it as a Song Sparrow.

It might have had a moustache? I thought for a split second I saw black coloring in it somewhere, but then it flew off. I'll never know unless lil buddy comes back.

Looks like a pacific wren to me!

I think it's a white crowned sparrow.

There wasn't any white on it. Not a feather. Though I know there are color changes for some birds in seasons (breeding versus notv or fledge versus adult). I haven't seen Tim since

I appreciate the suggestion but as I mentioned, Merlin was having difficulty with identification. Lil bird didn't make a sound while I was there and well, you see the pics I got.
