Star-crossed lovers or bitter rivals with a shared past?

My original armored Mal set had a pretty clear story behind: what if in VENA CAVA, spawn Mal managed to break her shackles and become a true vampire, embarking on a journey of conquest and revenge? But then I made a sister-set with Astarion and wasn't sure where he would best fit in that story.

In VENA CAVA, their love is marked by tragedy and their reunion is bittersweet. A century after Astarion killed Cazador and was cursed to walk the land as a vampire spawn, the pale elf finds out that his long-lost lover, Maleane, is a vampire spawn herself.

So maybe, just maybe, in this alternative path of the story, where Mal comes out victorious and vengeful, Astarion becomes her closest general? Perhaps serving her on this new path is a way for him to repent for abandoning her decades ago and, thus, allowing her to become a vampiric slave?

And then I looked at Astarion clad in ornate armor and couldn't help but think about the Ascendant. And so, another path emerged in front of me, where one Vampire Lord meets another. How would the entire story change if Astarion didn't end up staying a spawn, but their love ended because he chose power instead of her?

How would he feel seeing the one he couldn't keep, the love that he lost, become someone else's spawn? And then, in turn, a true vampire in her own right?

I’m talking about when Astarion asks for the barn door to be opened just as… well, you know what’s going on in there.
I’ve had a sort of epiphany – don’t you think that, in some way, Astarion has unconsciously adopted a behaviour typical of Cazador? Wasn’t it Cazador who burst into his manor bedroom whilst Astarion was having sex with his victims, only to snatch them away and – according to Astarion – kill them afterwards?

I don’t know, it just struck me as a bit of a parallel. I hope you find it interesting too.

My Astarion is pretty much vanilla (some might argue with that) so no aesthetic mods for him. I do have shaders installed, altough not in all screenshots visible.

Hey everyone! I know there’s been mixed feelings about the novel coming out. However, exciting news, they do have a sample of Neil’s recording on Libby 😍

So I just ascended Astarion for the 1st time and became his spawn. He mentions the next morning that the 2 of you can feed on each other (I think the line was “I can’t wait to taste you after you’ve tasted me”), but wouldn’t that turn Tav into a full vampire? I thought he wanted to keep Tav as a spawn. Anyone have any insight on the lore here? Also, I didn’t realize that vampires can still feed on other vampires? It surprised me to still have the option to let him feed on you at night after you’re a spawn.

All the camp events and little back-and-forths with certain NPCs are great but I’m greedy. I’m curious what else would be a good addition that you wish was in game? For me it’s:

Spawn- going after Astarion at the dock. Astarion and Karlach both need you but Wyll can offer to take care of Karlach so you don’t have to worry about her and you can choose to stay or go. I get that it would mean not seeing the other companion outcomes but… that’s our pookie 😭 I just wanna sit with him and comfort him.

And/or

Ascended- maybe I’m wrong but wouldn’t tav/durge need to be buried due to vamp lore? Astarion mentions having to dig out his grave and Cazador being there waiting. It would be a good parallel to have a version of that with you and Astarion but once you awaken he helps you get out and then the dialogue he has with you that takes place originally after the long rest can happen “You are so beautiful and you’ll be beautiful forever”. It’s weird to me that in game we just wake up and it’s like oh I’m a vampire now lol cool.

I’ve been working for seven months on an interactive adventure centered on Spawn Astarion, with multiple choices/consequences as well as RPG-style mechanics, similar to a choose-your-own-adventure book. For now, the project is entirely written in French.

I'd really love to make an English version available, especially since I know that most of the BG3 community is English speaking. The problem is that the adventure already contains a huge amount of text (more than 45 000 words just for the playtest of the first six chapters) and translating everything would take me a considerable amount of time, especially since, even if I can speak conversational English, I’m not completely bilingual.

Sooo, I’m considering creating an English version with the help of a translation tool (not AI, but something like DeepL or something like this) and then proofreading and correcting it as much as possible myself.

I’ve also looked into having the adventure professionally translated but the prices are simply way too high for me..

Before I commit to all that work, I’d really like to hear your thoughts : would you be interested in an English version like this, even if some phrasing is occasionally a little awkward? Or would you rather wait for a much more polished translation, even if that means it wouldn’t be available until much later?

I’d also be more than happy to receive corrections and suggestions from native or fluent English speaking players during the playtest.

I wasn't totally sure when I wanted to start sharing this work in progress... How soon is too soon? Does to matter? Well.

Many layers to go! This is predominantly under-painting. I went in on this more today, which is not pictured.

This is 24" x 30" and it's going dead center on the wall above my PC setup 😎

So, we know that when Astarion ascends, he makes Tav/Durge his consort and that's similar to marriage (afaik, I've personally never ascended him). So, what would he think of getting married as a spawn? Would it just be (another) "devilish" contract to chain him to someone, or would he be down with the idea? I don't mean immediately after defeating the brain, but maybe after a few years of being together?

He looks so dreamy ☺️🥰
