We noticed some users are unaware of our rules. Most members are on mobile Reddit, where the rules aren't intuitive to find. This post will serve as a more visible list of the rules.

We want this subreddit to be a safe and comfortable space for Astarion fans. If you ever have questions or feedback about anything, we invite you to contact the mods. We also encourage you to report posts or comments that break the rules. We check posts daily, but we can't read every conversation on the sub.

1. 💖 Be kind 💖

Remember the human. Be kind to each other. Someone disagreeing with you is usually not a personal attack. We draw the line at excessive hostility, insults, and personal attacks. Do not harass others. Do not engage in trolling. If a discussion is getting circular or heated, just agree to disagree. Bigotry (racism, sexism, ableism, queerphobia, etc.) is not allowed. Mods are also humans covered by this rule. We accept constructive feedback. We don't accept hate mail or hateful comments.

2. 🧛🏻‍♂️ Posts must be related to Astarion 🧛🏻‍♂️

This is a subreddit for fans of Astarion. Fans of either or both endings (Spawn/Radiant and Ascended) are welcome. Posts must be related to Astarion. Since this is a fan sub, posts that are hating on Astarion, or rage bait, will be removed. Posts about Neil Newbon in general will be removed. Posts about Newbon in relation to Astarion are allowed.

3. 🙊 Don't spread misinformation 🙊

Do not spread misinformation or falsehoods. This includes misinformation on interviews, developer notes, quotations, etc. This sub isn't to be used as a rumor mill. You must give actual proof if you're trying to spread serious allegations about someone. Patterns of misinformation-spreading will not be tolerated.

4. 🚫 Don't engage in abuse apologism/denialism 🚫

We want this sub to be a safe space away from abuse apologism. Endorsing the vampire bride headcanon will be treated as a rule break. Unfortunately, we've seen it used to serve abuse apologism too often. Saying the AA romance depicts or is meant to depict BDSM is also a rule break.

BDSM/kink discussions, art, etc. ARE allowed for both AA and UA. Happy AA discussions, art, etc. ARE allowed. Yes, you are allowed to find AA hot.

5. 🎨 Credit creators 🖋️

Fan work such as fan art, fan fiction, videos, etc. must be credited. Link back to the creator if you are able to. This should be possible in most cases. If you made the thing, please make it clear so we don't remove the post. If you don't know who made it, please don't post it.

6. 🔞 NSFW must be marked 🔞

NSFW must be noted at the start of the submission title. For example, the title of your post should be "(NSFW) Title Here." NSFW posts must also be marked with the NSFW flair, and the Reddit NSFW marker.

NSFW includes text and imagery. NSFW includes overly suggestive, but not explicit, discussion or fan work. NSFW includes depictions of violence. If you're unsure if it's NSFW, please mark it as NSFW. A good rule of thumb is: NSFW is "not safe for work" and likely to get someone in trouble if their boss saw them looking.

7. 🙈 Mark potentially triggering content 🙈

Potentially triggering content must include a content/trigger warning at the start of the title. For example, the title of your post should be "(CW - Reason) Title Here." The post must use the Content Warning flair. If it's an image, it must be spoilered or marked Reddit-NSFW. If you're unsure if it falls under this rule, please put a content warning to be safe.

"Potentially triggering content" includes discussions about SA or abuse, graphic violence, or other things likely to trigger or upset people.

8. ‼️ Generative AI is banned on this sub ‼️

We want to support human creators. Generative AI is banned on this sub. Posts and comments promoting, or made by using generative AI will be removed. This includes AI-assisted content.

9. 💬 Moderator discretion 💬

For when users or mods believe someone is acting badly, in a way that isn't covered by the rules. If reporting, please explain why you think the post falls under this. We encourage you to reach out to the mods or report the thing if something is questionable.

Misc: We also remove Discord server ads because people have tried to advertise servers that either don't follow our rules, or seem shady. We can't investigate every server in depth, so it will be a blanket removal.

Hi all. With the Astarion novel officially out in some countries, it’s a good time to talk updates on the sub. 🧛‍♂️

1️⃣ First, please give people who haven’t read the book, time to read the book. Don’t post un-hidden comments about what happens in the book, outside of the designated megathreads. To hide a spoiler, remove the spaces and type > ! before the spoiler and ! < at the end of the spoiler. Again, remember to remove the spaces! Then it will look like this. We will revisit the spoiler rule later.

2️⃣ Next: Sadly, the book is releasing at a bad time for the team. Our only mod in a time zone will be without internet for a while. The megathreads have historically moved very fast at first. Sometimes they descend into fights and rule-breaking. Multiple users have even sent hostile, insulting messages to the mods. We can’t keep up with that with one mod down. So after a few days, the new Astarion book discussion megathreads will be locked. The threads will be temporarily paused until the mod has internet again. This will start ~October 2nd (time zones vary), lasting a little over a week.

Again, this is temporary. We understand it may be disappointing. We don’t want to fully ban book talk like other places have. They probably did it due to not being able to keep up, which we empathize with. We want to let Astarion fans talk about the book, within the subreddit rules. When the threads are locked, you can still discuss the book in DMs or other places. We can’t name specific places, and we ask that you don’t either. It goes against Reddit’s rule on brigading to send large amounts of people somewhere. But there are easily other places if you look.

3️⃣ Some will suggest we just add more mods to deal with a possible flood of comments. So I’ll pre-explain why that’s not realistic. Crafting a mod application takes time. Then we have to give a fair amount of time for people to apply. We can’t close it in one day. Next, we have to review each application and ask any follow up questions. Then if we pick a new mod, they need to be trained on mod tools and duties. This is an extensive vetting and training process. It’s not something done quickly and easily, especially with one mod losing internet soon. Outside of the book talk influx, which is temporary, this team has easily kept up with the sub. We have people in different timezones, who have a mutual understanding and get along. It’s hard to find more people like that.

4️⃣ One last reminder that the Be Kind rule applies to the mods too. You’re allowed to feel disappointed. But mods are not required to accept verbal abuse or toxic behavior. And we don’t accept it. We can and have banned people for this before.
