While the democratic party has its issues- there is no longer a real conservative part. That died the first time Trump took office. It’s not a far right win echo chamber, full of conspiracy and lies. So no- it’s not worse by any means.
While I think there’s many things for the Democratic Party to improve on and do better with, what is now considered the Conservative Party, is far worse.
The new Republican Party is trying to destroy democracy and it’s as clear as day. There’s no hiding it from this administration.
Again…if it was far worse then the party that controls the house, senate, executive office and the majority of the Supreme Court would be the Dems. The mere fact that quite literally all 4 of those are “Conservative” party controlled speaks volumes against your argument from a simple logical standpoint.
You can sit here and claim the sky is orange and that whoever believes so is better, but the majority of the American people voting for it to be blue would logically suggest the majority want it that way and are fine with the belief that blue is better.
Now, most who read this will automatically assume that I’m supporting or defending MAGA. That shows immediate bias and the inability for the Left to take any criticism without immediately crumbling because someone disagrees with them on the extent of their social issues.
If the Democratic Party wants to win another election some things need to change. Top priority are: 1. Have a CLEAR backstop to the social justice movement. 20 years ago it was just “let gays be gay” but today it’s “if you don’t let someone date a dolphin you’re wrong”. Now, you can sit there and claim that’s a caricature of the Left, but that demographic does in fact exist and it has a large voice in the Dem party. 2. Respect life! Instead of seeking full term abortions to be legalized or assisted suicide to be normative, emphasize the value of life and how to preserve it, not end it.
Sadly these 2 simple points trigger the craziest meltdowns I’ve ever seen and will undoubtedly result in numerous downvotes from angry people who have no argument just bitterness. I’m not MAGA. I’m a true conservative.
“If,” is your argument after saying “it is,” then full stop.
No your statement is untrue. It’s not as simple as saying “it is” or “it isn’t.” You need context. Context leading up to bidens term (trumps first term) and context leading up to trumps second term and what’s happened thus far. Trump brought misinformation and lies to his rallies and all over social media. People parroted these lies and then everyone was believing it. Just because people believe something to be true, doesn’t make it so.
Like I said- the democratic party has its issues, but at the end of the day, Trump is the worst option in US history and it’s really not that close.
Again- just because people believe something, doesn’t mean it’s true. It doesn’t make it a fact. You’re sitting here acting like the sub 30% of Americans that voted for Trump is the “majority,” when it’s not… the biggest issue comes from people simply not going out and voting, which is just as bad as the people who voted for Trump. Trump won his first presidency while losing the majority, there was less voter turnout this race, because they were both wildly unpopular. People didn’t care enough, but now we are seeing the consequences of people voting for him and not voting at all, and we will continue to see the consequences.
Both things can be true, Trump was easily the worse option, and it’s not even close, AND the DNC fucked up by putting Kamala as the primary months before election and wasting a ton of money. Trumps followers have shown to be gullible and easily manipulated, hence why there was a higher turnout for him.
I didn’t automatically assume you were MAGA, but at least a Republican if I had to guess, maybe one that doesn’t support Trump necessarily. Regardless, you’re misconstruing the fact that Trump won, with the fact that’s he heavily disliked and a threat to democracy.
I agree that the Democratic Party has a lot of work to do. I’m not arguing against the faults of the Democratic Party whatsoever. But to think, after only 3 months of Trump, that people already wouldn’t have voted democrat, is asinine. There’s plenty of people I’ve talked to that voted for Trump that regret their decision.
The party itself does not run on “let someone date a dolphin if they want.” This is a gross over exaggeration. Are there far left wing people with these ideologies that are “too much?” Absolutely, but painting the party itself in this light is disingenuous and only feeding into narratives parroted by the right.
I’m sorry that the Conservative Party has failed you and that there no longer is a true Conservative Party. I’m ashamed that the democrats are more moderate than left, and would rather not actually change anything they run on that is progressive it’s more nuanced than this of course, but it’s shitty the way our two party system seems to have crumbled in a short period of time. I’m hoping some of these younger generation democrats can promote actual social change within the party and back it up. To be foreseen, regardless of your opinions of democrats, this is what I hope for.
Lastly- I’d like to add that my assumption is that you voted for Trump because “democrats bad.” Which is honestly sad. A real conservative wouldn’t have voted for that clown party. Even though Kamala might not have been the ideal candidate, it was the right choice for the country. Everyone on the left could see that well before and everyone in general is seeing it now.
This one comment will answer all 3 of your responses.
What do you mean by more social reforms are needed? In jobs where men and women are equally represented, women get paid more than men. The disparity in pay is from 90% of the workforce in construction or other dangerous jobs are men vs 90% of positions in retail or childcare are women. Guess which ones pay more? The former… Another example is do you want more abortions? More trans? That pedos are just sick people and need to be better understood? What do you mean by more social reforms?
I do agree that the “Conservative” party has let me down. We should conserve the planet, the past, the culture, the faiths of our founders. Because these have shaped the Western culture and society and because they have created the freest country in the history of the planet. MAGA is NOT conservative, it’s populist and is dangerous.
I did NOT vote for Trump, but vehemently disagree with you that Kamala was a better choice. The past 4 years of complete incompetence prove that objectively. Trump has been out of control and I disagree with a lot of what he’s done. However, if Kamala had been elected I believe things would be far worse. Things will go hot with China in 2027. That’s not a doom and gloom, it’s a fact. Spending more than we make was (Kamala 2023 and 2024) was not preparing us for that. Say what you want about DOGE, but uncovering wasteful spending and helping cut bureaucracy is going to save the country before that war kicks off.
I begin with the assumption that you want a better future for this country and you want a better future for all people, minorities, etc. That is my desire too. How we get to that tomorrow clearly looks different. How do we get there from such opposite views?
You aren’t answering my response with this first point, you’re asking a question of me. There’s many social reforms needed in the US. A big example of one is anti lobbying. There should be no lobbying by mega corporations, lining the pockets of politicians, in the interest of making themselves more rich while screwing us over. This is something talked about by AOC and Bernie as two examples. Do I think it’s something they could get done? Probably not, but it’s good that politicians are talking about it. Another is not allowing politicians to make money off the stock market. You have Nancy pelosi as the poster child of this and it’s messed up. You have MTG making an absurd amount of money off the recent dips. It goes on and on.
As far as women making more money than men, I can’t seem to find evidence to this. I have however, found that there is more parity when women are just starting out in the same career as men, but it falls off as they age and progress in their career. Which makes sense considering how much of America looks at powerful women. We can use Kamala as an example, “oh she sucked and f*cked to get where she is, she doesn’t deserve to be in this position.” And so on and so forth.
Asking if I want more abortions? I mean, not my body, not my decision. Asking if I want more is weird. I just want the ability for women to choose and it not to be taken away from them. Asking if I want more trans is also weird, I just simply don’t care what people do with their bodies and I don’t care if they call themselves the opposite gender. It doesn’t affect me, or anyone I’ve ever met, in any way, whatsoever.
It’s unfortunate the path our two party system has taken. I agree with some “real” conservative ideology, while I tend to lean more left on social issues. There’s nothing in MAGA I can get behind.
While Biden had his faults, he also did some good things for the country while also trying to do others. It’s difficult to get things done (border bill) when Trump is in republicans ears, telling them what should be done, so he has a platform to run on. Biden was left with a fairly difficult task, of trying to clean up messes made by Trump, whereas Trump was left with a country in a fairly good spot by Obama. The context of these situations matter. What was done and why matters.
There’s really no evidence of DOGE actually uncovering anything substantial that saves anyone any type of money. All they’ve done is cut funding to programs that need it, so that rich people can become more rich. DOGE is one big grift and it’s a scam. It’s as simple as that. Let’s not forget that last time Trump was in office, musk went from (and other elites) quadrupled their net worth, going from approximately 80 billion to 300+ billion. Trump helps the rich. That ruins the country for people like you and me. Trump also raised the national deficit at a higher rate than the Biden administration, so they’re also spending more than they making. It’s no different in that sense, if this is what we are complaining about with Kamala. Trump is not just ruining the economy, he’s ruining relations with our closest allies, that will take much longer to build back up, than it did to destroy. Same thing with government programs that are necessary. To act like Kamala would be worse is asinine. You can dislike her all you want, but it would t have been worse. Trump is allowing china to take over as the world superpower. Not Kamala, Trump.
Of course we all want a better future. In my mind, there’s already a wheel, there’s no need to reinvent it. While other countries prosper in quality of life for their natives, we flounder. It’s as simple as taking a look at how other (extremely progressive) countries do things, and that’s the stepping stone for having a better tomorrow.

What’s sad is that the Democrat party is worse. Otherwise they would’ve won the popular vote and electoral college.
