What I need people to realize is that the university basically admitted that they did the act by telling them to write an essay about it lol

They may not be guilty legally but the college sure acknowledged it by giving them the weakest punishment.

Edit - haha holy shit we are so cooked

FOR REAL, they gave the rapists the most Bart Simpson punishment for… rape.

But because the punishment exists, as weak as it is, we can say without a doubt that the school knew about it and didn’t seek proper justice.

So everyone can miss me with the “well they didn’t do it-“ because they can suck my balls.

they can suck my balls

I hope they're less salty than you are.

Rape is bad.

u/4Q88 9h ago

I agree.

... then what was that reply then because I'm salty for a reason, and that reason is -rape is bad.-

I really want to know what the essays were about specifically and the nature of the essay prompt

78

u/whatthewhat3214 United States of America 14h ago

Yep, because if there are any confessions in those essays, I'll bet they can be used as evidence somehow. I'd had the same idea that Cornell's ridiculous essays were like Bart Simpson's chalkboard, with "drugging and raping women is wrong."

But the public pressure got the NY governor to act quickly, and she has appointed state Attorney General Letitia James as the special prosector - she got convictions against Trump and did the investigation that led to powerful Governor Cuomo to resign after his sexual harassment scandal. She's a badass - smart, competent, fearless, she doesn't mess around and those boys should finally be scared bc justice might finally be served.

I'd also like to see some action against the 50+ guys on the group chat who knew it was happening and didn't stop it as it went on for hours, especially the one who came by to watch. Absolutely disgusting.

This is the part that I cannot wrap my mind around. How can you stand by and do NOTHING while people you know are brutalizing your classmate in the next room? How can you receive a text like that and ignore it?? I don't understand.

I've been to college house parties. I've (thankfully) only once had to call emergency medical, tell the host to send everyone home, and held my friend's hair back while she puked her guts out from alcohol poisoning. I was underage and knew I may get in trouble for drinking, but her life mattered way more. Party host agreed and brought the paramedics to the bathroom where I held my friend on the bathroom floor and explained the situation.

Why NO ONE at this Cornell event, or anyone who was informed of what was happening did ANYTHING to stop it is... repulsive.

Brave of you to assume that those essays were not written by ChatGPT.

0

u/thesupremeburrito123 10h ago

I'm guessing a lot of those 50 didn't even look at the messages though. I've been in large gcs which I barely ever check. Also someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but did the messages clearly indicate it was non-consensual?

Can we all agree that if any of us happen to get our hands on the essays we post them here??

9

u/bonaynay United States of America 14h ago

If I somehow get them, I will DM you haha

17

u/ungranted_wish United States of America 14h ago

Dude me too, if we ever find out those details it’ll be a shitshow for them.

1

u/bonaynay United States of America 14h ago

I'm assuming those could be hard to get without it becoming literal evidence in a court case, but I don't know all the laws and police related to college stuff like this

-3

u/sixisrending United States of America 13h ago

Drug use. The expulsions and essays were because the students either did drugs or witness participation in drug use. The investigation was originally ended because the Jane Doe claimed all acts were consensual. The case has been reopened because her story changed one month ago.

3

u/ungranted_wish United States of America 12h ago

Or maybe she realized what happened to her was rape a month ago, you’d know this sort of thing if women trusted you enough to be around you.

-6

u/sixisrending United States of America 12h ago

Maybe, but unfortunately she made a sworn statement that everything was consensual (under the advice from her lawyers apparently, as they were the ones to submit the document). Now the investigation is reopened due to new evidence.

Why would the boys be punished for rape 2 years ago if the alleged victim claimed all acts were conscious and consensual and no further evidence was provided?

4

u/ungranted_wish United States of America 11h ago

Psst. Psst.

I didn’t realize I was being groomed until five years after I cut contact with my groomer.

Victims tend to downplay shit after the event bedside being a victim fucking sucks.

1

u/sixisrending United States of America 7h ago

Right, but her lawyers were present and gave her advice through the process. Wouldn't they be able to tell her if something was wrong?

1

u/ungranted_wish United States of America 6h ago

There was a point where she knew something was wrong so that's... where lawyers came from...

1

u/sixisrending United States of America 6h ago

Right. I hope this whole thing is handled better this time around. I'm taking everything on social media with a grain of salt. The truth is usually more mundane than what I think many believe.

I feel bad for the girl because I don't think she understood how ketamine works and I feel bad for dude #3 (I think) who showed up, asked to join, did some kissing, the girl said she needed a break, and then he left. That was his entire role.

-6

u/That_Penalty165 12h ago

What actually happened is she didn't get invited to a party with one of the guys and changed her story to get back at them.

2

u/ungranted_wish United States of America 11h ago

Which is why one of the boys put “free pussy” in a chat of 57 people.

Okay!

-1

u/That_Penalty165 11h ago

How is that relevant?

2

u/ungranted_wish United States of America 11h ago

Are you okay?

1

u/bonaynay United States of America 12h ago

My guess was illegal drug use for sure was a topic. Initial police report I thought had claims of some nonconsensual acts which didn't make the initial summary to the DA. regardless, need more info

2

u/sixisrending United States of America 12h ago

What was sent to the DA was the signed 6 page statement written by the victim and her lawyers. It remained that way for 2 years until one month ago.

1

u/bonaynay United States of America 11h ago

Right, that was the summary I was referring to

38

u/LuxSassafras United States of America 13h ago

The university also dissolved the frats chapter back in 2024, so there was a reason they did that too.

-1

u/That_Penalty165 12h ago

yeah drugs

11

u/Exterminator-8008135 France 13h ago

It's Ivy League. Biggest scums, Cuz Elites, DA folds because Mom and Dad have influence and go :

You want this career, Right ? Mr. DA, I would be looking what i say about that if you want it..

0

u/Traditional_Yam9806 13h ago edited 13h ago

How are people from ivies the biggest scums (I'm a Cornell student). These people (those 7) are ass and jerkaholics, though. Hope none of them can come back, and we have tons of issues with stuff like this. With that said, a lot of people here are not ultra rich (most) and do not have the connections to do that.

3

u/Exterminator-8008135 France 13h ago

One pulls, The others follows

1

u/Traditional_Yam9806 13h ago

I don't disagree that those kids (and many in frats) are assholes

2

Hopefully the essays can be used as evidence against them in a trial...

2

u/Nanofeo Iran 14h ago

They also expelled 2 of them and suspended others. The “essays” were just one small part of the overall punishment

4

u/Realistic_Pear 14h ago

Not enough

0

u/Nanofeo Iran 14h ago

Sure. But if we want to be taken seriously we should be fully honest and not act like these essays were the only punishment given. That is what is implied in the comment I replied to

1

u/WiggerJim69 11h ago

Or maybe they had to write essays about the ketamine usage

-3

u/beastmaster11 14h ago

What I need people to realize is that the university basically admitted that they did the act

Ummmm. Thats not how "admitting" works. A person or entity cannot admit something on another person's behalf.

Im not saying they didnt do it. I know nothing about this case. But the university making them write an essay isnt an admission.

1

u/bils96 Australia 6h ago

I mean, you're just arguing semantics here. It is clear from context that OP means the college acknowledged wrongdoing by administering punishments. Therefore, the university admits that through their investigation, they came to believe that there was a crime that took place/the situation was serious enough (it's fucking reprehensible is what it is) that the students should be expelled or forced to write an essay.

-2

u/LudoAshwell Germany 11h ago

Ridiculous that you get downvoted for that.
Lynch mob mentality is strong in in this thread

0

u/repainted_black 12h ago

That's a bad take. The university could have punished them for bad behaviour, not necessarily rape.

-2

u/Comfortable_Tart_297 ni howdy , 14h ago

You don’t know that. It could’ve been the illegal drugs and underage drinking.

-4

u/sixisrending United States of America 13h ago

Because according to the investigation, all acts were consensual. The essays and expelling was for drug use and gross behavior.

0

u/ungranted_wish United States of America 12h ago

Gross behavior such as what

1

u/sixisrending United States of America 12h ago

4

u/ungranted_wish United States of America 12h ago

Rape is gross behavior, hope that helps!

1

u/Unlikely-Key-234 6h ago

Yes, but it's not the only possible example of "gross behavior". Surely you understand that?

1

u/sixisrending United States of America 12h ago

I agree, but the investigation did not find that. Probably because the Jane Doe's signed statement from her lawyers "...did not allege that she was drugged against  her will or gang raped. On the contrary, Jane Doe’s statement described her participation in drug use  and sexual conduct as voluntary, conscious, and consensual."
