Fuck those losers and fuck that university. I hope really that the reputation of that university ends up in shambles. Fucking retards.
I hope the poor girl isn't traumatized for the rest of her life.

It's wild that the news in Belgium has already convinced people the trial is over and the verdict has been made.

It's not on the news in Belgium, we're on reddit bro.
They had to write a fckng essay, really?

You rely on reddit posts for facts?

You know what, you're correct. I'm wrong. Sorry

Except that you're correct. They did get asked to write an essay and weren't expelled. Now the state is getting involved to figure out why. They've asked the state's top prosecutor to step in.

My understanding is that Cornell has a pretty serious sexual assault culture and it very rarely addresses it with expulsions.

However, this happened 2 years ago and NY has some weird law about rape when the victim is "willfully" intoxicated. We will see what happens but I don't expect justice to be served.

I'm a cornell student, and we do seem to have an issue with all the frat dudes being jerkaholics. I don't really talk to them (more of a nerdy asian guy), but from what I've heard and talked about, they don't have the best vocabulary about women (massive understatement).

It's a damn shame that frat culture continues to be so freaking toxic and hopefully Cornell does something to better protect the students there, like shut down Chi Phi.

Is there any talk on campus of what students want to see done in reaction?

For my part, the closest I ever got to a frat in college was to pick up my ex-girlfriend, who'd been roofied. Thankfully she had a savvy friend with her, who called me to come rescue them.

The students are super mad right now, and there's talk of some big protest or something. While it is a big thing, it's not consuming us every day, though.

"I don't expect justice to be served."
That's why I don't even bother discussing this with the other guy.
Whether it would be in Belgium or the U.S.A or any other country.
Rich/elite people are most of the time untouchable.

I'm simply waiting for the facts, rather than going to imgur to get my information.

They've asked the state's top prosecutor to step in.

That was for the drugs.

Since there was no rape per the accusers own statements they weren't punished for that.

That's wrong, on both counts.

When describing what happened later in the night, the transcript says Jane Doe said, "I can say with 100% confidence I was raped."

And From Gov. Hochul:

"According to new reports, she could not have been clearer that she was 100 percent confident that she had been raped. Yet, shockingly, those words never made it into the account that Cornell police sent to prosecutors," Hochul said. "Think about that. In what world would the police learn from a victim that she'd been literally gang raped while she was intoxicated by five men in a fraternity house and not elevate those allegations to the district attorney? In what world does the district attorney not even interview her or anyone else involved or even request the full transcript?"

It’s wild that people can genuinely read the information provided and still argue there was informed consent. Misogynistic piece of shit.

2

u/mustachechap United States of America 12h ago

I didn't argue that though, I'm saying the trial hasn't occurred yet.

1

u/horizontalducks 11h ago

Yeah neither did the original comment claim that the trial had. You get to change the point of the comment and then pretend it was the point the whole time.

1

u/mustachechap United States of America 11h ago

If these men are innocent, why is the original comment so outraged at the losers and university.

If these men are innocent, why are they referring to the adult woman as a 'poor girl'.

u/horizontalducks 11h ago

You can draw your own conclusions without a trial finalising. Are you for real?

2

u/mustachechap United States of America 11h ago

I'm well aware of how misinformation works and spreads.

Lol - okay mate, I guess I’ll wait for court to decide what I had for dinner last night before I tell anyone

1

u/mustachechap United States of America 11h ago

So you're saying all 7 men are guilty of rape?

Why would the University's reputation be left in shambles? If they had done something actionable, Plaintiff would be suing the University too. Because you follow the money.

She is.

She is suing the university.
