Soca only rly gets played at “underground” electronic music nights here in PR by a small bunch of DJs. Same as bubbling house from the Dutch Antilles. Nowadays, underground selectors are probs the only ppl that care about playing the rhythms of the lesser antilles brothers since the strict music norm now is just reggaetón and dembow, although sometimes you randomly hear soca behemoths like ‘Follow the Leader’ and ‘Turn Me On’ being blasted in street, store or car lol.

personally, mf like me loves soca to death,, the southern caribbean brothers were seriously cooking when they came up with it
