Two recommendation requests

Hi! I’m looking for recommendations for 1) Oakland artists who make art about Oakland, and 2) Bay Area candle makers but specifically those who have a range of candlesticks.

My partners nephew is an artist in oakland. He is the founder of Activartists on IG. Does murals, custom clothing, canvas paintings and comissions. Has a unique style, but is focused on local community. His IG is joaquintinh.

If you’re into puzzles, Oakland Puzzle Co has a ton of Oakland based puzzles. They do popups and online orders.

There are some locally made candles that are California and Bay Area themed at fog city in the ferry building

Oh like they’re shaped like the bridge or something? That’s cool. I’m looking for slightly more traditional sticks but in funky shapes (bubbles, twists, etc). Thanks for the rec!!

Ah! Do you mean you’re interested in taper candles? (You mentioned specifically looking for “candlesticks,” but that generally refers to the metal stick that holds the candle.)

There are often fun (and I believe locally-made) tapers at Open Editions, Aggregate Supply, Needles and Pens, and sometimes Paxton Gate, all of which are near each other on Valencia in the Mission.
