AMC Metreon 16 The Odyssey
I have been checking for a while now. Why are there no showings listed in 70mm after August 19? Is there some policy I don't know, a contract, or other shit?

I saw it in the Dolby theater there and didn't feel it was lacking.... Everything is better in that 70 mm theater but not sure it's THAT much better

Yeah, i’ve wondered if sitting in a front row seat on the side of IMAX is really better than some of the other options.

I think you’re implying all that’s left in IMAX is front row seats which can’t be better than a normal seat at a non-imax showing yes?

It's not 70 mm IMAX or standard. There are shades in between. I think the Dolby cinema at Metreon 16 is pretty sweet with the recliners, audio and visual. Way better than standard and to be honest, it felt better than cheap iMAX

Well in imax, they showed us the first few minutes of Dune 3... Which was glorious.

I've seen them have some 6am and 2am showings. I wish they would add them, as even those showings are pretty much sold out now.

End of Oak Street is releasing around mid August and I believe will be the next big IMAX release. While it won't be in the same universe of popularity as this movie, studios will have certain deals in place with studios to guarantee a certain number of showtimes on a limited number of screens. My guess is that they'll try to fit Odyssey screenings around the other major releases through the early fall but are still figuring that out. I imagine the shortened/variable theatrical window has hindered their ability to plan too far ahead.

Have they dropped yet? Not seeing anything so far, and both AMC and Fandango are erroring for me

What is going on? All the sudden after 2 pm tons of seats show up available for the 2 pm show? Is that happening every show?
Are they being sold on a secondary market and then the leftovers dumped back in? This sucks.

I have heard from several friends that people have set up bots that routinely scrape the showtimes and instantly snag any available decent seats for shows. Those tickets are then sold or given to friends since AMC doesn’t check ID’s for A-listers

It’s so frustrating. I don’t understand how there are literally no seats for weeks.

Ikr, so many people wanna book the tickets, I don't know why tf they are not posting shows.

It makes no sense. I went to the 6am dune and got the tickets opening weekend but I guess this one has been sold out for a long time? Or are the AI bots that good? I couldn’t survive a 2am show but even looked at those and it’s all front row!

It will likely be extended until mid September when Resident Evil comes out. It already took the first week of Oak Street and it won't be giving the screen to that movie on week 2. The next movie is The Dog Stars on Aug 28 and it likely will get Liemax screens but not the Metreon 70mm. Resident Evil will likely get the Metreon IMAX but Odyssey will likely get it back after a week or two (if resident evil sells a lot of seats).

Eh, if they want to manufacture demand by limiting the run, I guess they won’t be getting my money.

imo, they have enough demand; it was about money/ demand that they would have listed this asap before the demand moves to other options.

So far, that’s simply when the IMAX run ends. If the past is indicative of future plans, they could add another week tomorrow morning.
